Comments (41)Raven, I have no experience with blueberries or low ph soil. My experience in the fertilizer business has been that dry sulfer is the cheapest. If I remember right dry sulfer comes in a 90% formulation. Ammonium sulfate adds some, but you would have to use a LOT of product compared to just using dry sulfer. You can not dissolve Dry sulfer into a slurry though I don't think. If you want to go liquid it comes that way, but it costs a lot more. It would take 5900 pounds of ammonium sulfate ($1200-2000) to do the same thing, and adding that much AMS would add a lot of nitrogen and Im not sure if you would need that or not. Around here you could find a dry fertilizer outfit to bring a spreader out if it was a big enough job. 1/2 acre not so much. But I bet it could be done as an experiment even with a yard spreader, or some kind of pull behind a 4-wheeler spreader. It would just take some math to make sure you got it spread right. It would need incorporated, either with rain or mechanically. Comments (4)Jan and Dave, You both use the term "complex." What does that mean? Is it the same as "balance", which after googling some more, I have learned is not too much sweet or acid, as in wine. Or does complexity add something else? By the way, I found a free glimpse of a paper indicating that high acid and high sugar together do in fact correlate with high flavor. I also learned that the acid content declines once the tomato ripens past "breaker" stage, whatever that is. Maybe that explains why I don't like tomatoes after they have been sitting out for more than a day or so, unless they were green when they started. It would seem that you need to eat a tomato once it is ripe, because left out it loses acid, and in the fridge it loses sugar! The black tomatoes came up when I googled "complex tomato flavor," along with a few others I can add to the list. I should search the forum with that term. Black Cherry for example. BTW, I am looking for early tomatoes, and also for varieties that will live through the hot summer and start bearing again in fall. We have a long spring and a long fall. Comments (51)I love dry red wine, mostly Cabernets. I've been buying this Chateau Fage at my local store which is super dry and only $10a bottle. Bogle cabernet and merlot are decent for about the same price. California wines may be good but tend to be more expensive. Stag's Leap is a favorite of ours but we save it for special occasions. Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is good for a change. I use it a lot for piccata and scampi type dishes and finish the bottle just for fun....See MorePie floof! what's your favorite

And that parts of Missouri I've been to (yes, the southern part) seemed much more "Southern" than not. That was in response to littlebug's photo showing that cafe's every special that day, dessert included, was fried. I'm sure living in different places had many positive aspects for you. Are you the person who mentioned some time ago having spent time living in Davis? With the exception of UCD that gives it some of a college town vibe that could be anywhere, I think Davis is much more accurately described as a Sacramento Valley location than a Bay Area one.
