Im out $10.00, I think I was scammed

So, I visited a popular driving co. site looking for a quote for a ride to the airport and back for an upcoming trip out of state. no "get quote" option. only thing was to schedule ride. OK, maybe thats the way to get a quote?? Well the next thing I know, its sending a driver out, will arrive in 9 minutes.!!! "What?? No!!! I tried to immediately cancel via cell phone, driver said I can only cancel through website, when I tried that, I was sent to the driver. Tried multiple times to cancel and explain what happened. Plus there is no customer service option to explain my plight, just options to report by drop down, which of course not one for my problem. Their help prompts don't pan out either.There just isn't an old fashioned human being to talk to. (so...Im griping to you kind folks). This is so frustrating! Im stuck with a cancellation fee. Boo.

last year, I was in Boston, and the uber driver that took me from my hotel to the airport was suppose to drop me off at the Alaska terminal. He insisted, yes, INSISTED I get out well before Alaska to the point that he was DEMANDING that I get out of the car. (in a foreign accent that was barely deciferable) I, being alone in a strange place, and feeling intimidated, stupidly complied and got out. (dumb, I know) I had to walk with luggage to the terminal. Which took a while, and I was cursing him with each step. I later filed a driver complant, and got a voucher.

🤷‍♀️that world by my daughters had much success with Uber when we were in Scotland this summer. The fee is right there before you hit book. It showed fees for different sized vehicles even. You didn't say which service you were using so help is difficult. Was it you or them..unless someone can compare to the service they use you won't ever know.

Blah... I didn't get to plant out anything.... spent all day digging instead. Of course after I got the sunflower house mapped, dug up, and the bean teepee and tunnel made, my husband comes home and say why did you put that stuff there, I don't want it there! This is after I asked him 50 times if he'd be all right w/ it there. Men!! He wants me to move it all to the side of the house where we can't grow anything cause it's all sand. He's nuts! I am so gonna win this argument!

Sounds wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner party. See, if your ever worried about a dinner party again, just put those chocolatinis on the menu! I should have mentioned martinis when you were worried. A friend of mine was having a dinner party and made a big batch of appletinis to go with the appetizers. They were such a hit she made a couple more batches. At 9:00 she realized that she had never started dinner, and wasn't actually sure she was capable of cooking at that point, so she made more appletinis and had her husband call for pizza. All the guests spent the night sleeping on various chairs, couches or the floor. They thought is was they best party ever.

What a very pretty room! I second all the advice to take your time and to get something temporary for the time being. do you have a rug you are going to use in that room from which you could pull a color for the drapes? My two specific pieces of advice are to ignore the window to the far right that is next to the fireplace. I would maybe do drapes along the long wall, and then blinds on the window next to the fireplace. I wouldn't do the same treatment on both as that would look a little awkward. the other piece of advice is to check out this blogpost. It is (almost) the best bit of design advice wrriteen anywhere about any decorating topic in my opinioin! http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/2009/08/top-ten-design-elements-4.html She provides oodles of specific examples demonstrating why her advice makes sense. I'm trying out a new recliner in the room - what do you think?

Would you like to try a couple of different arrangements? One is to put the big chair back where it was, then place the two recliners together at the end of the room. Put the end tables on either side of the sofa like you had them. Then find a table to put between the two recliners. You can try them angled toward each other a bit or just have them lined up straight at a 90 with the sofa. Between the fireplace next to the recliner, I would probably have a big basket with magazines, or throws and pillows. A tall plant in the corner by the window would be great. Second, take the big chair out of the equation and place the recliners across from the sofa on either side of the fireplace. I would put them on a 45ish degree facing inward. Each should have a small table to use for drinks/lamp/whatever you'd like to put there. This will leave the end wall completely open, but I think it will be easier to imagine different pieces of furniture/art there. Definitely get your furniture placed in a way that makes you think "ahhhh, this is perfect". THEN we can worry about the art and accessories. I was surprised to see two recliners. Didn't you only have one before?

That's not a scam, that's user error. I believe there is a way to get a quote without scheduling a ride.

Contact them, see if they'll reverse the charge.

You are probably right Elmer, but I cant even find a way to contact them. to get to a customer service computer, click on menu. There is no menu.

Or..file a claim online...I'm not sure you can reach customer support by phone...?...but you CAN online.

Your probably better off, not using an Uber. I dropped my SUV off @ the dealer for warranty work, they called an Uber for me. It was disgusting! Someone had thrown up on the back seat, then wiped it down. BIG stain! I asked if he had a towel to put over it...nope. He had my address, but asked the housing development name. I told him...and he didn't believe I lived there. He said, "You mean you live close to there?" I said no, I live THERE. He said, "That's a gated community." I said yes, you'll have to enter the code...that I have...at the kiosk. He then asked what the HOA was a month. I told him and he called me a liar. 😂 I just smile when thinking about it...so weird....

One review describing that experience and your driver will be finished with Uber.

We've used Uber all over the US, and on two other continents. We've never had anything but very positive experiences.

PS - And, our two home pickup locations in Calif are in gated neighborhoods. It's never a problem.

Sounds like it was a horrible experience. One I can't imagine.

You had a real one-off. I've always found Uber drivers to be agreeable and accomodating. And usually friendly in an acceptable and not nosy way. You had really bad luck. Give them another chance sometime if you need such convenience.

See hobbitmom....that's what I've seen here. We/Dh was with me, took my gardening truck out, a 1995 GMC 4x4, stopped @ the bank on the way home, it wouldn't start. I called for an Uber, no one would come! I talked to a guy....said he didn't want to leave the immediate city and go 20 miles up the road into the forest, where I live. Luckily a few more tries...and the truck started.
