🤷‍♀️that world by my daughters had much success with Uber when we were in Scotland this summer. The fee is right there before you hit book. It showed fees for different sized vehicles even. You didn't say which service you were using so help is difficult. Was it you or them..unless someone can compare to the service they use you won't ever know.

That's not a scam, that's user error. I believe there is a way to get a quote without scheduling a ride.

Contact them, see if they'll reverse the charge.

You are probably right Elmer, but I cant even find a way to contact them. to get to a customer service computer, click on menu. There is no menu.

Your probably better off, not using an Uber. I dropped my SUV off @ the dealer for warranty work, they called an Uber for me. It was disgusting! Someone had thrown up on the back seat, then wiped it down. BIG stain! I asked if he had a towel to put over it...nope. He had my address, but asked the housing development name. I told him...and he didn't believe I lived there. He said, "You mean you live close to there?" I said no, I live THERE. He said, "That's a gated community." I said yes, you'll have to enter the code...that I have...at the kiosk. He then asked what the HOA was a month. I told him and he called me a liar. 😂 I just smile when thinking about it...so weird....

One review describing that experience and your driver will be finished with Uber.

We've used Uber all over the US, and on two other continents. We've never had anything but very positive experiences.

PS - And, our two home pickup locations in Calif are in gated neighborhoods. It's never a problem.

You had a real one-off. I've always found Uber drivers to be agreeable and accomodating. And usually friendly in an acceptable and not nosy way. You had really bad luck. Give them another chance sometime if you need such convenience.

See hobbitmom....that's what I've seen here. We/Dh was with me, took my gardening truck out, a 1995 GMC 4x4, stopped @ the bank on the way home, it wouldn't start. I called for an Uber, no one would come! I talked to a guy....said he didn't want to leave the immediate city and go 20 miles up the road into the forest, where I live. Luckily a few more tries...and the truck started.
