Comments (4)WG, I am pea green with envy. I LOVE oranges, but here in north GA they would freeze to death in the winter. Lucky you for being able to pick them from your very own trees....See MorePruning orange tree
Comments (1)others with more experience will chime in.... I have a "valencia"...nice rounded bush of about 4 feet tall and wide...however, long shoots (branches) appear in Fall, heading straight up to about 8 feet. What I do is just wait til it is likely we will have no more frost, then I just cut these "shooters" right off to keep the tree at a small height. Doesn't seem to hurt the tree. You don't want the tree's new growth after you prune to be growing into freezes...you want it to be growing into spring/summer's warmer temps....See MoreArizona dwarf orange tree questions...

This is my first year growing citrus, we just started getting nights in the 60s here in the Houstan area and my satsumas as well as grapefruits are beginning to turn orange....See MoreSF bay area can grow SWEET Oranges.
