Alexa's eyes and ears . . . . . .

last year

I have several Echo devices in the house, and I'm aware that something I say might turn up in internet ads. The same thing can happen with anyone who uses a smart phone or posts in social media. But the following surprised me:

Yesterday I posted in Nicole's thread about buying "extras." The conversation had gone off on a brief tangent about tofu, and I mentioned that I bought myself a little tofu press years ago, before my husband and I started a commercial tofu manufacturing business. This morning what should appear on my Echo Show in the kitchen but an Amazon listing for a tofu press.

All I did when I posted here was type the words on my computer. I didn't say them out loud, and I didn't mention them, aloud or in an email, to anyone else. So like I said, this surprised me. But maybe it shouldn't have.
