Anyone else in NH/MA NOT seeing cucumber beetles this year?
Comments (12)Here in Fairhaven near Cape Cod, I haven't seen a one!. I still used floating row covers over my plants from germination until blossom time. We have been recently changed from zone 6 to 7 by dept. of ag. Hope SVB skips us this year as well. I have also noted lots of my perennial flowers are bug free this year. The Permethrin sprayer rests silently in the back of my garden shed. May it do so for the rest of the season....See MoreI love my husband, but....
Comments (14)You are lucky. My husband makes promises every year at the beginning of the season that he will do more in the garden, but.....He doesn't enjoy it. He's very helpful on my big projects (tilling, edging, etc). Generally I'm luckier for him to stay out of it since he can't seem to recognize one plant from another on a reliable basis (even with each row marked). One year he picked the young green pods off half a row of October beans when I was out of town and left a note for him to pick the green beans on the fence. The only reason it was just half a row is that my son stopped him and pointed to the fence and then to the marker than said "October beans." Another year he picked unripe watermelons on three occasions...one per week. Anyway, with your excess you can can, freeze, or donate to local food shelters. Also, our local fruit stands and farmer's market will buy good looking produce IF they need what you have. We also have a local organic food co-op that sponsors a "tailgate sale" every Saturday where local gardeners and farmers can sell their produce....See MoreNo cucumber beetles, but..........

Comments (6)I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this show. So much fun! Oh, and lay night I wore a turtleneck, light weight fleece, vest and winter jacket. My light weight clothes are sitting on the ironing board. They are not needed yet....See More- last yearlast modified: last year
