I saw a news report about an underwater volcano off the coast of Oregon that may be getting ready to erupt.
It was described as being "hundreds of miles" offshore and at a depth of one mile below the water. I looked on a map and it appears to be nearly due west of Astoria, Oregon. There apparently are a number of scientific instuments and even cameras at the site. A "mild" event is expected if and when something happens. One of the scientists who monitors the site said that a it might be happen later in the year, or tomorrow, because it's unpredictable.
Videos shown on the CNN site include some cool photos of fumaroles.
