I have no information regarding edibles/smokes/others, but I just wanted to jump in here and say that I hope your sister does well with her chemo and has a fast and complete recovery. Anything that keeps her comfortable in the meanwhile seems like a good thing to me, and if you can keep her appetite up and her eating disorder in check, I'm sure you could make some very nutritious meals for her too.

I like the idea of the tea and the under tongue disolves. And low dose cookies. Inhales seem unpredictable. (dosage)

She does not cook at all. Nada. An egg for breakfast. A tin of tuna, chicken, salmon in rotation eaten straight from the tin. LeanCusine frozen meals in rotation.

I brought a cooler full of master stocks, a couple pound containers of miso, fresh ginger and tumeric, etc to make Flay's Spring Tonic.

I'll see her somtime today and see what she thinks. She does not know how to use a computer so i'll have to scroll that for her.

While I am not an expert on cancer, I do have the expertise of fighting it, and have learned there are two major components of that battle. First is developing an appetite, the second is feeding the patient.

Both chemotherapy and radiation have devastating effects on the patient's digestive system. Appetite goes first. It's difficult to eat when you feel sick all over and your guts refuse work correctly. THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, is the most powerful natural tool and nearly 100% successful in getting the patient's GI system to function at a more normal level.

Delivery of THC to the patient's GI system can be either through smoking, sublingual, or edibles. Regardless of the high speed of delivery, unless the patient has a history of smoking, that delivery method should be avoided, especially if you're dealing with lung cancer. Sublingual is fast and accurate, but the taste of THC tinctures is off-putting and tough to overcome. Edibles are the best choice for cancer patients as they can be made to taste the same as similar food items without THC. They can be eaten slowly or dissolved orally without causing the patient's GI system to reject them. Sweets are hard to resist.

Once you've developed the patient's appetite, you can proceed with the excellent recipes you've found on the net, but without an appetite, you may end up eating all you've cooked yourself. Small portions and ready to eat at a moment's notice. The patient's appetite will come and go, rarely lasting long enough to eat a full meal.

Another important consideration is taste. Chemotherapy drugs ruin a patient's tastebuds, so the delicious meal you prepared for them might taste like soggy cardboard to the patient's tongue. The best way to treat this is with Miracle fruit or Synsepalum dulcificum.Not the easiest fruit to find, but there are plenty of online sources and dried versions available. Miracle fruit fools the tongue and can even make a lemon taste like sugar to the patient. Of course, you can always add extra spice, but that may be tough for their GI system to handle. Bland foods are best until the patient can tolerate more.

Of course, the other main benefit from cannabis is the relief of stress. Unless you've fought the battle, you don't fully understand the stress cancer puts on your mind and body. Stress kills, but cannabis can turn stress into calm.

The battle is long and worth fighting. Never give up. Never let your guard down. Be ready to use every weapon in your armory to win. Good luck.

I've been making this soup base for years, then various add-ins. She has always liked it. I usually make 6-8 servings while making our morning coffee. SisterNurse can't get enough....

I am sure you know about this, but I really liked it. My MIL, who I made it for, said it was too "hot" , even when it was ice cold. Whatever.

Seems like an eating disorder could be a stumbling block when using edibles. However, there are so many formulations available nowadays, finding something they will eat shouldn't be impossible.

And now there are THC infused beverages as well.

When I was on chemo, it was a three week cycle. While I was lucky enough not to experience the nausea that many do, everything tasted weird for the first two weeks, and then I had a few days to a week of food tasting normal again. I was told to strictly avoid chillies etc (which I love spicy food) as the chemo also destroys your stomach lining to some extent and you might end up with an ulcer.
