I've tried to photograph planes in formation but could never quite catch them. However, my brother sort of caught this jet, after it swooped down very close to my car (an open-back mini-SUV) while I was driving:This was just outside China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, as we were driving to Death Valley. The test pilots like to fly over this highway and swoop down close to cars to terrorize motorists. Lots of people we talked with in Death Valley also had this happen to them. These jets make a tremendous noise, and so it is quite disconcerting. Here's another photo of the same plane, seconds later:This thread has made me realize how many sounds and noises that I really hate - mostly ones that are loud and shrill, but that does not include airplanes. One of the worst is loud sports fans and sports newscasters, which is one of the reasons I do not watch sports or even sports news on TV. I don't get excited about team sports.
