Hi. Tobacco varieties that are grown for commercial use are resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus. There may be pockets of TMV in some greenhouses that are growing heirloom varieties for their own use (or for decorative plants), but the smoker who uses commercial cigarettes/cigars will not transmit the virus. No problems there. I see some black specks on the leaves in the photo that's 3rd from the bottom. Could there be some pest activity going on there? Your plants look generally healthy. I think most of the problem is attributable to the need for fertilizer. It looks like you are doing a good job with watering too - not too little and not too much. Good on ya. The last photo, of the fruit, looks like blossom end rot. Most of what I've seen indicates that you need to fertilize the plants. With container plants, you need to fertilize regularly with a fast-acting fertilizer that has nutrients that are immediately available to the plant. Most potting soils do not contain nutrients and they don't hold nutrients because they wash out from watering. Get some inexpensive, water soluble, fast-acting fertilizer, such as Peter's or Miracle-Gro or one of the others. Dilute according to package directions for INDOOR plants. This is important. If you make it too strong, like for outdoor plants that are in the ground, it will damage the plants. Feed every 2 or 3 weeks or as suggested by the directions. Slow-acting fertilizers will not be useful to potted tomato plants so don't bother with things like Tomato Tone or bone meal or other amendments that take a long time to break down. They will be washed out before they get a chance to be useful. This should vastly improve the health of the fruit and leaves. Your fruits, with regular fertilizer and watering evenly, will stop getting blossom end rot. It should also help with the leaf issues. I don't see any disease. Maybe a little pest activity but that's easy to resolve with your favorite garden insecticide. Fertilizing is your most important issue. It will make a big difference. Enjoy!

Its sounds like your issue is with the delivery company. Home delivery is not an exact science. You can use a large common carrier who will be much faster and deliver your order next week except that there will be a very high probability that your order would be damaged. What are the options then available to the retailer such as this company?. I can tell you the last thing the company wants is for your order to be delivered damaged. The only way to accomplish this is with a home delivery service such as the one they use A and O. Most of these companies originate in North Carolina. The companies schedule routes to the various areas, such as the Southeast, the Northeast, the Midwest etc., the West Coast etc. These companies will run a truck to each area. They will collect orders from their retailers and no matter what their retailers say, no matter how much they push and cajole that truck will not leave until it is full. They can't. The home delivery business is a low margin, low profit business, if they were to ship half full trucks the delivery company would soon go out of business. Most of these delivery companies go to most of the areas every 2-5 weeks depending on the location. Unfortunately as was your case and for whatever reason, you were not able to keep the next date to your area and apparently they go to your area every 3-4 weeks. 4 days advance notice by the way is fairly typical. If you miss a truck you have to wait for the next truck. The only way around this would be for your retailer to find another service to deliver your order sooner if one would have been in your area sooner. You purchased your sleeper in December 2014 ( you don't say when in December) and it is now March 2, 2015 it really hasn't been an outlandish amount of time for a special order. Your delivery issue could really have happened with any retailer as they do not own the delivery companies and are subject to their schedules.

Hi, Natal, it was this morning's Diane Rehm's show. I reread what I wrote and should have stated associated with the oil and gas industry as many suspect the correlation lies with the W VA gas extraction taking place near the epicenter of yesterday's quake. There are oil extraction problems as well, but I mistyped. Long before yesterday's rumble, there have been lots of concerns raised about the gas exploration/extraction fracking. Congressional hearings are underway because of the serious water depletion associated with the practice as well as the water, soil & air pollution from fracking, not to mention uranium and several hundred other toxins involved. I'm not very confident that our government will take appropriate measures at this juncture. WY, CO, NY, W VA, VA, AL, and LA are just some other states where the alarms are being sounded. Of course, TX where this practice originated is deeply affected though long controlled by big oil & gas as is our home state, LA. Lawsuits are being filed in several states, but this is a huge problem that by and large the public is not tuned into yet. It's frightening how short term big oil and gas interests might outweigh our preservation.
