Dog-gone good story! After getting off bus in nearby village, was hitchhiking home, lady concerned, called cops, the one replying said she said she'd offered to drive me, I said if I'd heard it, I'd have replied, "Thank you, ma'am- that's very kind of you". He, a city cop, asked permission to leave the city to drive me home, and did.
