I watched it before I read that it was AI generated.

I thought it was very sweet, going back to a sort of old fashioned, traditional times.

I am not Christian and do not celebrate Christmas, and this reminded me of that very apparent detail. It did not make me feel at all included, but I did think for those it was targeting it was probably well done.

I kept expecting the Budweiser Clydesdales.

As for the AI - only the faces of the people looked real, everything else - the polar bears, the deer, the scenery - all looked CGI.

I agree, it struck me as weird. I'm not a coke drinker and the commercial would not ever entice me to become one.

Wow! Creepy is right. I haven’t touched the stuff since I was a kid, and I was a sugar freak. Someone had spilled coke in the front passenger seat. My father was the type to keep that car he bought clean, waxed and shiny.

After doing the best he could cleaning it up, he lifted the mat to show me something. It had eaten right through the rug under the mat. That did it for me.

Nothing about this says Christmas to me.

I don’t see where it’s creepy so maybe those who do can explain why they do.

We prefer the real sugar Pepsi which is not easily available. It’s a treat and not a regular stable.

- I have a problem with A.I. when it creates living moving things as images. The technology almost but not quite gets it "right" and it isn't 100% completely realistically right according to my brain and it makes me uncomfortable. The "people" and even the animals that appear in this commercial have an other worldly appearance to me.

When I watched the first "Shrek" movie it left me feeling off balance because the images and movement were almost realistic but they were very unreal to me and I find that unsettling. It has the "uncanny valley' effect on me.

This advertisement leads me to believe that the product isn't all that genuine either.

I don't see why it's creepy either......it used to be CGI, now it's AI. Those commercials - and parts of movies - were always created with a healthy dose non-reality (matte paintings, layered exposures, miniatures, CGI, etc). To me, it looks unreal (even the faces), but I couldn't tell you if it was CGI or AI, nor do I care.

To a generation used to looking at CGI and video games, I'm sure it looks fine.

I liked the commercial and it looked festive-but I could tell at times it was AI.

When at my nail salon a couple of months back, they had AI generated MUSIC playing-and it creeped me out for some reason. You could just tell. Maybe enough complained about it because they no longer play it?

It doesn’t do much for me, except remind me how much I hate snow and how much I used to enjoy my daily Diet Coke. Which is probably the point.

As a Christian, commercialization of the season turns me off.

Doesn't matter whether we like it or not. AI is out of the box and going to stay that way. I did like the soundtrack better than the usual songs.

All of this reminds me of back in the day when everyone was concerned about "subliminal" messages. Eventually people realized that there was no point in spending big money to bury a message when it was more effective to just knock you over the head with it.

Back in the Golden Age of Advertising (1960's - 1990's), the agencies actually dealt with the heads of companies, people took risks and great creative resulted. Then corporate marketing and advertising department managers started making the decisions and everyone was too concerned with crunching numbers and covering their butt to take any creative chances. AI gives them one more layer to avoid taking responsibility.

I enjoy the occasional Coke,esp. with pizza, but lately I've been on a Cherry Coke kick! It's funny because I never drank it until now. I'll be sitting watching TV and suddenly crave it. lol

As for the commercial, I don't see it as creepy either. Someone mentioned the Shrek movie. Well, the movie that does kind of creep me out is The Polar Express. I like the movie, and I end up watching it or parts of it several times during the holidays. The characters' eyes....yikes. And just over all. Altho, I think the movie is well done.

Made me long for the days when Coke came in glass bottles dispensed in big metal machines and you used a bottle opener to pop off the cap. Beyond that, just the usual non-religious holiday hoopla.

As for AI, I can see how it is used in nefarious ways, but commercials don’t bother me since they are full of hooey anyway.

As for the commercial, haven’t coke commercials been CGI for a long time? Like the polar bears? I guess adding the fake humans may be new.

A lot of commercials seem to appeal to mood more than the advertised product itself. Sometimes even naming the product or company only seems to be an afterthought.

When it comes to advertising, I can only assume that they’re driven by studies that go deeper than how we consciously believe we respond. Advertising is a multi-billion dollar industry. That’s not money thrown about flippantly.

"Mexican Coke" made with real sugar and in bottles is available at the little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants. Well worth it. Jim orders one and I'll have a sip. Really good stuff. Better than the ad.

I look it as the same as a cartoon. Nothing is real in those either. I guess I would only find this creepy if it created itself.

I saw this on tv yesterday and it does say in the bottom left-hand corner that it is AI generated. It did colour my perception of the commercial. Coke has done Christmas ads like this before and some of the generated scenery looked familiar.

Obviously not real but I liked it. IDK, kind of sweet and soothing for me. Definitely not creepy.

ETA - Also, some ”magical” factors in that appeals to me for Christmas.

I don't think of coke as a 'Christmas Cheer' drink and this does nothing to change that. It's exactly what the SAG feared and why they had that strike, right? It's the future. Not particularly fond of the message. Christmas is soo much more than santa so it fails in that regard for me. It doesn't really matter how it was created.

I found the voice in the sound track extremely unpleasant. Other than that, the fact that it is AI doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I find CGI and AI both really amazing. Nothing creepy about it at all. No, it does not make me want to drink a coke.

I am a Christian. and ads like this one make me sad. The commercialization of it has overtaken the real reason for celebrating it.

The concept is something we do need to acknowledge. I've also been interested in the Etsy commercials that tout one-of-a-kind creations over mass production.

It didn't strike me as being much different from any other CGI productions, as others have previously mentioned.

Why does it matter how it was produced? Why do you care?

One objective in producing advertising content is to make the ads memorable. Sometimes that's done by being clever, sometimes by being different, sometimes by being controversial in some way.

Here you've started a thread, posted a video, and started a conversation that increased exposure of the ad to many who hadn't seen the commercial. I'd call that a success and reason to pay the ad agency a bonus.

It was just okay. I didn't love it or hate it. I haven't had a Coke in decades and it didn't make me want one. I would have preferred a snowy scene with animals and an old decorated farmhouse and then a Coke ad at the end.

I don't really drink coke but I do drink some of their products. I think the commercial is sort of cool and traditional. Reminded me of the Budweiser commercials. Don't really care how it's produced. Commercials have never been based on reality. We've had polar bears connected with coke for decades. A dog puppet sold Nestles Chocolate way back in the 50s. I find comments on it's not being inclusive for non Christians a bit odd. Plenty of non Christians celebrate the more secular parts of Christmas. It's not like AI was making everyone attend Christian based church to get their coke.

I loved the mood it set. It was lovely. As for puchasing coke...yeah...it's OK. We drink soda when it's hot and we're working outoors. The commercial didn't motivate me to go buy Coke.

Not exactly - the AI concerns wasn't about using AI in productions (of TV, movies, commercials, or video games), but about using performers' video or audio likenesses to make AI product. Sampling someone's voice, then making several commercials or video games with that actor's voice without telling them, and without compensating them. For instance.

I realize that there is a lot of computer generated material in advertisement. For the most part I don't care how it is being produced because I never see it. Replacing live human beings in action with "realistic" computer images is a little jarring to me (do you read the original posts on this site before you respond Elmer?) -AND it puts real people, actors, directors, producers, set designers, camera people plus many others I am not aware out of a job that a machine has replaced. Computer graphics will never replace reality, when it is presented to me it jumps off of the page and leaves me feeling just plain odd. I stay away from it whenever possible. That is my personal choice in the matter.

I am afraid that if the Coca - cola company took a more religious approach to selling their products during the holidays it would be the three wise men showing up a the manger each with a cooler full of ice cold coca cola! Regular, diet, and new Cherry zero sugar!!

I don't need to watch more commercials, and so I skipped it. I do not drink Coke either, although I did when I was a child, but never as an adult, except in New Orleans, when I would sometimes order 151 Rum and Coke at a bar.

I have zero interest in Christmas, and so that is another reason for me not to watch the commercial. I especially dislike Christmas music. I have a lot of bad memories and associations with Christmas, mainly due to my family members.

I didn’t find anything creepy about it. It was just one of many Christmas themed ads.

The ad strives to create a sweet Christmas (celebration) feeling. Not intended to be analyzed but consumed. I noted the plastic bottle several times and it was pathetic that the creators has to offer that quasi-glass clink.

This ad would fit in well with the TV series ”Highway Through Hell.” (Didn’t I spot Jamie’s tow truck?)

You missed my point entirely. Don't take my words so literally. I was suggesting that an ad that is memorable for whatever reason, stimulates conversation, or any other reactions from viewers has accomplished part of its objectives. Forgettable ads or others that make no impression fail to meet that goal.

None of it looks real, doesn't bother me at all.

Just looks like the usual slushy sort of nostalgic, unrealistic Christmas advert. How it's produced is neither here nor there to me.

Eh. Makes me no nevermind to see AI any more than CGI. I consider it to be AI or CGI. I don't think it replaces live action. Nor are they trying to. It's just being itself. I join Jeb for the human faces being uncanny valley, though.

I assume most everything is AI now. It all looks too perfect. This commercial was a nice little scene but I don't associate Coke with Christmas anyway.

Kroger carries the Mexican Coke in the aisle with the things from different countries.

It's sometimes fun to guess the AI pictures on Facebook. Seeing perfect but very flawed houses and animals can be amusing.
