Has anyone seen Lost?

last year

I watched it about 10 or more years ago but never figured it out. I just watched it again and loved it but it's still hard to get it all straight with so many flashbacks. Did you love & it and got it figured out? The writer of this story is pure genius such an imagination!

I watched it from the beginning. It was huge with a big internet presence. The promise from the creators was that everything would eventually be explained. No woo. It was going to make sense. The people were not dead. I eventually lost interest. I am not going to do any spoilers here.

The red plants are called Amaranth. They are generally about 51/2 to 6 ft tall. I have a few that are close to 9 ft though. I didn't plant them this year. They just keep springing up every year like weeds.

Has anyone seen this beetle mixed in with your japanese beetles?

I don't think the giant japanese beetles are actually Japanese Beetles. I think, like a lot of insects, all Japanese Beetles are more or less the same size. THere are many, many species of beetles, and most are more or less harmless. One nice thing about the large, night-flying beetles is that they are an important food for large, noctunal predators like Whip-poor-wills and Screech Owls (screech owls eat lots of insects in the summer)

404912, you might be thinking co-dominant genes, where T is green and T' is white, so TT' would make a plant that shows both white and green (which is what this person describes when they say striated white and green leaves). Tt would indicate that green is dominant (T) and white (t) is recessive and a Tt would still produce a green plant with only tt giving you a white plant, no combination would give you a multicolored plant. This assumption of genetics does not account for things like crossing over and random mutations, only "normal" alleles. Since this would be a case of co-dominance, a simple punnets square of TT'xTT' OR TTxTT' shows us that each corn seed has a 50% chance of showing this "variegated" trait I think it's safe to say that is most likely a random mutation or else it would be FAR more common. This is also way over simplified, and assumes that leaf color, the amount of chloroplasts, anthocyanins and carotinoids, are all controlled by a single gene and not multiple genes and also only accounts for a monohybrid cross. I really only know enough about genetics to be dangerous, and I admit I know nothing at all about corn genetics in particular, so like I said, very over simplified.

There was a three season show called La Brea that from what I read about Lost might have borrowed a bit for a starting point. It attracted our attention because of its LA-centric starting point - a big sinkhole opens near the La Brea Tarpits and people who fall in find they have travelled back in time 10,000 years. To the same geographic spot but as it was thousands of years earlier, encountering things that existed then but not now.

I'll offer no spoilers other than to say that at the start we got sucked in with an interesting story and fast pace. It ultimately ended with a whimper. Some of the actors who began in Season 1 were no longer available for filming and I think those running the show got the go-ahead to bring it to an end (for the sake of the audience) but with an abbreviated and perhaps rewritten Season 3.

The first two seasons are worth watching if you can accept a somewhat less satisfactory outcome in Season 3 than might have been hoped for or expected. The story does end.

Yes, years ago we started watching it. We didn't stick with it. Too far fetched. Which we were disappointed by. It could have been interesting w/o all the off the rails bizzarro world things.

I watched all of Lost and bought the DVDs as the packages released. It was fantastic ... until the end. Gave the DVDs to a friend who hadn't watched it.

The Leftovers was great.

Glitch (an Australian production) is a similar theme that's very enjoyable until the ending (IMO) goes askew.
