There appears to be several that get decent reviews. We had a couple of Coleman at our lake condo the kids slept on even when they were older and they were easy to inflate and deflate with the pump provided. The newer ones that look more like a thick mattress look even better. The couple I looked at were a little over $100. One was a Serta and the other from Amazon. Both highly rated by Good Housekeeping.

Interesting, outside. We aren't air mattress users so when I saw the heading, I thought of the things from my childhood that were like inflated hotdogs linked together and maybe 4 inches high. Perfect for a pool or casual riding of waves.

What's shown in your link aren't so much inflatable mattresses but rather inflatable beds.

I have 3 inflatable beds - Elmer is correct - they aren’t the thin air mattresses we all remember from camping days. I have 2 extra long twins & even found the fitted sheets for them at BBB. The 3rd one is a queen size which a very deep pocket fitted sheet works on. They all have electric pumps for inflating & deflating. The queen is the thickest but they are all thick enough that even a person with some joint issues can get up / down to the mattress. No one has ever complained about a poor night’s rest after sleeping on any of them. My DH & I slept on the queen sized bed one night for a test sleep. I don’t remember the brands - I store them in our garage storage so have to look. I do think the extra long twins are Coleman. But, I’d shop for features over brand. It’s not a huge expense or an item that’s going to be heavily used.

We have an old Aerobed mattress. It's at least 20 years old. The ones now are so much thicker and probably more comfortable.

thanks so much for the Good Housekeeping link! this one looks like just what i need. i particularly like the extra weight capacity for the queen size. my friend has insisted that she wants my 2 great danes to sleep with her. i sleep on a twin bed and since they aren't allowed in bed with me, this will be an extra special treat for them! 😂

I recommend that you get a memory foam mattress pad to go on top of the air mattress. This makes a huge difference in comfort.

I've used a lot of air mattresses on camping trips, and when I had a memory foam pad on top of them, it felt like my bed at home. I put them on upside down.

Mine is a relatively new aerobed, it’s ok but it’s not something I’d go out of my way to sleep on. I recently helped set up a bunch of air beds in a basement for a load of kids (31 and under is kids for me nowadays, yikes) and while I couldn’t name the brands I’ll say that none stood out as a heck of a lot more comfortable than the next. My personal preference would be for a higher height, and at least queen size if space allows. And adjustable firmness. After a bottle of wine that should yield a good night’s sleep. Since I don’t drink I’ll call the sofa.

By the way, Aerobed calls their product an air mattress so the term is fine to use.

they have orthopedic beds in 3 rooms. they prefer my sofa! 😂

it's rare that i have overnight guests. my plan is, after my friend leaves, i'll take the mattress to my son's house for my occasional overnight visits with them.

Intex brand of inflatables has never failed me. I use the standard height in various widths for tent camping and I have an Intex convertible armchair I use at the house I'm working on. I would suggest that for guests you get the double height deluxe version.

Recently I have been looking at river tubes (something I want to get into) and Intex once again came up as the most reliable mid price inflatable as far as vinyl products go.

Anyway, Keep it simple. I have an older model of this. Stores easily, compact. comfortable. comes w electric pump and duffle bag. Get a comfortable mattress cover for it.

Years ago I must have had or been given some other type. Decades ago. Anyway, when it finally croaked* - I remember why now, I cut it apart to make two (2) individual waterproof tarps. I had to cut the petitions/wall making up each baffel/chamber. When I got done, I had two, solid, thick flocked vinyl ”sheets” that I could use to lie out on the grass or a beach.

Meteor showers, beach, Tanglewood concert. The vinyle tarp folds un and stores compactly.

@petalique that's quite a bit more expensive and only 12" tall. with my amazon rewards, i can get the Intex queen for around $50.

Amazon rewards are best used as cashback. Have the points dollar value put into you bank account and pay full price for the item. Then use the cashback to offset the price when you pay your CC bill. That way you build more cashback since the points earned are based on purchase price.
