Just for FUN ... a little eye candy!
Comments (6)California poppies. Sigh. I have a self-seeding mixture called "Tequila Sunrise" from Renee's Seeds, a cream colored one and the normal deep orange, they're spectacular. They also, planted among the roses, are pushing the envelope between "flower" and "weed". They do amazingly well with good soil and regular moisture. So, I went and bought something like a 1/2 ounce of normal orange seed, and tried to get a whole big border of them. Nada. Zip. Maybe 3 came up. Today I transplanted some of the T. sunrise out into the border, and forgot to water them in, which I had better do pretty quick here..........See MoreA little fun in the midst of the craziness
Comments (19)Great idea! It's also fun with grown-ups. We use our remodeling projects to spice up our Halloween parties. When we knew we were going to paint the living room, we urged guests at "The Zombie Apocalypse" to write on the walls, and the notes all together created a great story line about which parts of town were safe, survivors who lost and then found friends and loved ones, and practical tips on how to deal with the zombie hordes. Last year, we gutted the kitchen just before setting up "Stage Fright," and left one section up for guests to write on the "Wall of Shame." Turned out something like what you would expect to see written on a bathroom stall in rock club. Everyone gets into it. Future homeowners will be SHOCKED at the horrors that happened in the house before them! *insert evil laughter*...See MoreFun little project
Comments (8)I have an embarassing amount of glass vases that I keep in our downstairs "venture in if you dare" room. Most are from condolence, congratulations, just because flower arrangements and I could never bring myself to get rid of them. I grow a good amount of dahlias, hydrangeas, zinnias, etc in the summer, so will arrange some this summer in vases that I'll paint with this method. I saw that Kerry from Garden Answer, if you know who I mean, and her mother set up a table in their downtown, giving away vases of flowers from their gardens. I thought it was such a lovely thing to do. I think I'll just do porch drops... Ring and run....See MoreFor those with little ones……food fun
Comments (13)Oh, I can imagine some little boys I knew having fun plucking the ”hair” off the fairy so she was bald! (or her dress!) But you do have a point, Elmer. It’s why we switched from theme birthday cakes to brownies, then pie. The kids didn’t care or even notice what the cake looked like, and ate either the icing, or the cake, but rarely both. Brownies were,a universal favorite and extra pieces could be easily sent home with kids or boxed up. In later years, pies were a birthday activity, with each kid selecting the filing for their slice, and making a way to identify that slice on the crust. (Making pizza was a similar activity.) I think it’s like sushi, really pretty but then you just pop it in your mouth. I see the rice now, eld, but is the yellow an omelette? It’s really cute....See More- 2 years ago
