Comments (10)Ok, that was helpful, thank you very much. I have been asked Not to use green (green looks great), or any teal related colors. He is not crazy about blue but it would be ok. I put an array of all colors of shirts on the lighter Dijon-ish color chair and am not crazy about most reds or oranges or a combo of the two. What I learned from the images is that my problem is still that I'm drawn to the rooms with more pop. So, the choice of either a gray-blue or gray-purple wall is fine as is using that undertone shade for an accent color. What my problem is I think... is that I need a poppier color as well. Rosy pink looks good but I know he will not want that. I think maybe I could get away with a grey wall with purple undertones, a few purple accents and a yellow (not cream yellow or dijon or neon yellow but a brighter yellow for my "pop". It's the big ass chair that has been throwing me off. Some pop will draw some attention away from the big ass chair. Maybe, the colors of furniture above as well as brass, glass mirror, black/gray, gray/purple, purple, brighter yellow, some texture, creamy yellow off white, shiny black...hmm, don't have any wood yet (future worry?). What do you think of this self diagnosis so far? What some might be thinking...why doesn't she just toss the stuff in sons home and let him deal with it? My response...I can't, I started it and will not rest until it all has some sort of look even if I become crazier lol....See MoreNeed some color/finish guidance on my vintage-inspired kitchen!
Comments (11)I got a wonderful 8" black and white matte ceramic tile for my mudroom in a 1914 Greek Revival in Philadelphia. I love it. It's glazed but it looks like it isn't, so nothing stains it. It took me a long time to find it and it wasn't expensive but I can't remember off the top of my head who made it. I had to get it from an obscure supplier but they happily sent me samples. I'll see if I have their info in my construction records. I did see a picture on Gardenweb somewhere of a floor done by someone who cut marmoleum into 8" tiles and installed it on the diagonal. Looked fabulous but that had to be hard work! If you're on a tight budget, VCT can look good and is dirt cheap. It replaced the VAT that came out in the 1930s and wouldn't unauthentic either, but it is harder to maintain than ceramic or marmoleum....See Morehelp with my big old fireplace wall - style my mantle!! noon
Comments (21)The rug is from wayfair - 100 Percent wool and super soft!! But it was like having a house full of 10 white cats, oh my!! It’s much better now after about 6 months but for awhile I had to vacuum constantly. It’s worth it though for the price. I have a wool rug in our more formal Living room from a design store that costs over 3,000 and didn’t shed at all like this, but you get what you pay for and the quality of still very nice aside from initial shedding....See MoreNew Build - Need inspiration for Living Room Blank Wall
Comments (11)Can you add the fireplace (may help for re-sale) but make it so that you can still have room for TV on one side (either in cabinetry or on a console that flows with the fireplace)? That way the TV won't have to be on top of the fireplace. Or maybe your space is big enough to have the TV on the wall opposite the FP and then you can have 2 seating areas (one around TV with sofas, chairs, etc and one around FP with 2 chairs and small table). If swivel chairs can be placed across from TV wall (interior wall), then they can also be used in FP grouping for conversation. Just a thought....See MoreS J
