Consider that some of those plants (succulents) may be species that come from So of the Equator, or on the Equator and may require different watering times. Crassula, Aeonium, do not like hot summer time waterings. Cactus get lots less water all times of the year, Agave and Cactus go together, so study each one that you are using making sure where they grow in Situ. I would group them as little winter water, and the other group little summer water, I would make a group if need be of Tropical Plants, and Desert plants, all can be killed with too much water the wrong time of the year. I had a plant from Israel that we wanted to get fruit on, I gave them to my son, he lives in Las Vegas, it get more sun than I could provide, and this Spring it as put on growth for the first time. I also can't grow peach trees here, not enough cold. So must/should consider what can grow where and when to water what species. Some plants need to grow at high elevations, other low. Many need very rocky soil on a hillside to live well. Many need no water for approx. six months. So much to learn and so little time to do so. Now do so and have a lovely garden and send us pictures. Just a thought. Do you have to have some of the caramel in the counter? Once you choose a counter with caramel, your counter becomes less neutral and perhaps less timeless. I know you have caramel tones in your wood, but wood is supposed to be neutral so your are not required to repeat.it. Not saying the caramel is not nice and would not look great, but I just want to be sure you see that you could go with a counter with more neutral colours in it if that was what you find. The bianco drift I posted does not have carmel in it, but aside from that is similar to your inspiration photo you posted above. Carol

Ewwmayo do you have any books or website recommendations for someone who wants to continue learning about succulents? I agree, Rina. I've had pretty good luck at my local nurseries, except one of them doesn't label any of the plants beyond "echeveria" which bugs me a bit. I've also been lucky enough to happen on some really nice ones from Altman Plants at Home Depot. But they only look good for a few days after delivery, then they get severely etiolated. I happened upon a new shipment last week and took home the following: echeveria elegans, echeveria subsessili variegata, echeveria chalk rose, a watch chain crassula, a sedum with tiny silvery white rosettes and a beautiful echeveria imbricata, which I've been searching for for months. 6 plants for about $30! I have a problem. I'll post a picture of the imbricata tonight if I can remember. It's potted in its own pot so it can grow and hopefully produce some pups. Until then, I'll leave you with this transformation. Found a succulent labeled as a perle von nurnberg and bought it in November. The pot had a date on it of 2014! I wondered if it had potential. Trimmed some of the pups off to propagate them and ended with this in March.... Needless to say, I quickly realized that it wasn't a PVN. I'm thinking maybe graptoveria debbie?
