Comments (37)Oh, and I could be wrong, but I interpreted the second, single dishwasher drawer to be in that position to accommodate bar glasses and such. I was picturing cabinets in that area that would hold glasses and utensils for the bar, and those things would be used, washed, and kept in that area. Regular dishes would be washed in the other dishwasher and stored nearby. If I'm interpreting your intentions correctly, I see no problem with that dish drawer being where you have it. Comments (3)The straight lines look like cuts that are deep into the wood. Don't try to sand them out...you will run out of wood before you reach the bottom of the cut. They look dark because the paint has gone down into the crevasse. You still have finish on the wood floor. You will need to know your 'finishing' grit before you start. Traditionally you move up by #20 increments. Example: 60, 80, 100. Or 80, 100, 120. How many passes have you done with the 20grit? Becareful with these low grits. They can take down a hardwood floor much faster than you want. How much 'wood' is left on this floor? To complete a full sand/refinish you ideally want 3mm of wood or move above the tongue. Comments (15)Assuming the wall can be altered, have you considered putting a range on the back wall? The hood would make a nice focal point from the LR, and venting would be simple on the exterior wall. You could have a larger range (and a killer hood), but the following plan has a couple of trade-offs; the fridge and range are a step or so farther apart than the NKBA recommended max of 9', and the clean-up zone is between them. Since the DW would be so close to the corner, dishes would need to be stored beyond the open DW door, for ease of loading. With the addition of the island sink, you'd have two prep spaces, but the plan would work with only the perimeter sink. The MW is in an upper to the left of the fridge, but it could go on the corner of the island, and trash pull-out could move to the other side of the prep sink. If using the single sink version, trash could go to the left of the perimeter sink. To the right of the fridge is a pantry--reach-in or ROTS.
