Have had this lovely mediterranean on an arbour for a few years...without doing anything at all (hangs head in shame) but the tangled mess is screaming for a restorative chopping. But O, the anxiety. Clematis do not really thrive in my windy (yet tiny) garden but Ourika Valley has been a stellar performer with thousands of creamy white bells when not much else is blooming. However, the enormo-clump is looking somewhat dire. Had held off to enjoy the seedheads but cannot delay any longer. Anyone else done a similar scorched earth treatment (there is no chance whatsoever of detangling the fragile lianas)?
