Is this Olivia Rose Austin
Comments (79)Yes. I am new to gardening. This is actually my first year with all my flowers. I decided on David Austin roses because of their beautiful cup shape. My daughter's name is Austin and she gets a kick out of having roses with her name. ORA is her favorite because it is pink. Lol!! I also have Jude the Obscure. So far both are far exceeding my expectations. Jude is definitely more robust and the scent is heavily even in its first year. I planted both in early May....See MoreOlivia Rose Austin - growing habits?
Comments (12)My Olivia is a first year grafted. So far I love her. Repeat and number of blooms are above average for an Austin, super disease resistant (not a single black spot, which is amazing in my no spray garden), nice bloom shape and color, good vase life for an Austin, medium fragrance. With local bunnies helping with occasional pruning, she is barely 2x2’ In size, fairly rounded shape, but i am in zone 5b, and I can see her getting bigger in warmer areas. She did throw a much longer cane last month, which i cut off before it had the chance to get to 4 ft. claire...See MoreOlivia Rose Austin and Gertrude Jekyll
Comments (4)Thank you. Carol, Olivia Rose Austin is a wonderful rose. Mine has reliable repeat bloom, an excellent rose to grow with other Austins or antiques. It has a moderate, sweet fragrance. Gertrude Jekyll is one of the best Austins for quality of bloom and fragrance. I've been growing it for many years, still a garden favorite. Comments (16)@rosecanadian She WAS fine. I was grateful she braved off the late frost, much better than all others, and she is healthy. She did produce a larger number of blooms compared to the others but that's because she got green-huge, probably from the MG All Plants food, which I shouldn't have used. If we look at percent of bush coverage, however, she did not do quite so well. I just wish I could get it to sing like Kristine's. Lots of large puffy blooms right next to each other for more bush coverage. Otherwise, in my view, Olivia Rose doesn't necessarily have striking isolated blooms, especially if they come out on the smaller side, which mine did probably also because of the wrong fertilizer....See Morepink rose(9b, FL )
