Need help with bathroom vanity - x-post with Bathrooms
Comments (13)I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero....See MoreHelp with a bathroom refresh - vanity, mirror, and lights.
Comments (16)HI everyone!! Sorry I haven't responded. I don't get Houzz alerts on my phone and didn't see all of these messages. First of all, thank you all so much for taking your time to respond. Can I just say how amazing the Houzz community is?? In response to some of the questions: My father is 70. He very recently had a major brain surgery so my mother wants to update the bathroom to just make it a little nicer for him. Unfortunately, our budget only allows for a new vanity, mirror, and lights. So far he hasn't said anything about the toilet being too low. I think that's ok to stay for now. He likes lots of drawers so I like the idea of putting more shelving above the sink! We just can't figure out the "style" of the bathroom is so that we could get a matching sink. We just don't know what to google. Love the vanity pictures you guys have sent - I'm forwarding them to my mother right now...See Moremaster bath -- help with selecting bathroom lighting around vanity
Comments (1)Do you have any photos of the space? I’m getting ready to update my master bath as well and have decided on an LED backlit mirror in addition to several can (recessed) LED lights for even more lighting. I’m big on makeup and want the best lighting as well. Not the prettiest but as far as my research goes the best. Go on Wayfair and search, there are quite a few with excellent reviews....See Morehelp with bathroom vanity lighting suggestions
Comments (8)We will not be moving the outlet box, the light needs to suit. I have found ones like this where we can "fudge" the location of the outlet box and re drill the holes so it looks as though it's centered. Thanks all for the suggestions....See Moretdemonti
