Ideas for corner fireplace remodel

Ideas wanted! I'm thinking of changing this corner wall. Do I tile or do stone on the whole wall and get a more modern mantle? I'm getting quartzite countertops, which got this idea rolling because I could use some leftover stone around the fireplace and/or as a hearth. My floorplan is fairly open concept with plenty of windows and space, but there's no real focal point besides this. Rather than just get quartzite instead of tile, I think it would look so much better to have the fireplace take up this whole wall. (But I definitely won't have enough Quartzite for the whole wall, haha. Maybe just a hearth?) Anyway, let me know your bright ideas! Thank you :)

A lot depends on how much quartzite you have left over. You may also want to consider buying quartzite specifically for the fireplace.

Here are a couple examples. Personally, I don't like to see gas fireplaces when they are not burning, so I usually recommend some sort of screen to hide them and make it look more like a masonry fireplace.

Quartzite just around the fireplace opening with a stainless steel mantel shelf and modern free standing fireplace screen with andirons.

Bookmatched quartzite slab floor to ceiling with a free standing mesh curtain screen.

The lamps clash with this particular Taj Mahal quartzite, so you will need to consider changing the lamps depending on the quartzite you choose.

These are ALL amazing ideas! I am a huge fan of IKEA, so I will definitely check out the Besta cabs - I have a lot of smaller statues and items to display that feel like they could work with shallower shelves. Gwbr - that's an amazing idea. I love the thick mantle and the imbalance of the space. I also certainly have plenty of art to fill any of those walls. Thanks for taking the time to sketch it out for me. Chickadee - I was thinking about panels of some kind all the way up. Speaking of IKEA, I kind of love the idea in the attached URL - they used Nexus yellow/brown drawer fronts -check it out! Whatever you use around the sides and top of the fireplace, you can use on the riser. I took out the raised hearth for my fireplace and used a tile surround. I also tiled the area in front of the fireplace with the same tile as the surround. I believe that you need at least 16" of non-combustible material in front of the firebox. The first room is a bit overpowered by all that rock. One option is to remove the upper half and leave the lower part. Perhaps the stone from the first FP could be used for the den, doing the same as the first room, stone on the lower half only. Hope that made sense. :) Just say no to shiplap. It's awful no matter what Joanna Gaines says.

I live in a 2007 craftsman home. I have dark flooring and cabinetry everywhere so don’t have time/money to fix that yet. One big eyesore to me is the fireplace (the tile is so brown and darkens the room). I’d like to brighten up the room a bit while making things look more clean and modern (but not entirely into something too farmhouse looking/rustic, although I really do like shiplap).
