update: update: iris--all my blooming friends
Comments (41)Hi all, My pkg. from Carol was waiting for me when I came home today: ) I It was filled with all kinds of good stuff! She sent me a wonderful 10 iris assortment. a White Japanese Yellow Flag Honey Glazed Superstition a pretty purple a red Beverly Sills a light blue heirloom Arctic Snow and Champagne Along with all the iris she sent a couple of frogs(figurines not live ones, lol) a bathsoap set a lavendar/vanilla candle a dog magnet- my husband already put it on the fridge. and a flag pin- she must of remembered I collect pins! oh and the hat! I told my husband he has to take my picture. Thanks Carol for such a great box! I did get all the iris potted tonight, so I happy about that. My husband even asked what he has to do after the operation for all the plants. It is very sweet of him, but very funny. I'm thinking don't you notice me dragging the hose around after work? lol. It is a very simple procedure. Sue/GiverNY4me, I'm glad I'm not boring you: ) I looked up Felder Rushing. He sounds like an interesting guy. I drove out to Rochester alone to the big garden show there, but I specifically went when Brent of Brent and Becky's bulbs was speaking. So I find it perfectly normal for you to go see Rushing: ) You'll have to let us know how it was after you go. You know I was thinking for all the people in this group with heath problems we should of called ourselves the Old Broke Down Buddies or something lol. I'm having a sicko weekend, I was driving home about 7:30 yesterday and just as I came around this huge lake I fell asleep at the wheel and and crashed into someones huge brick mail box and trashed their yard aaaand trashed out my beautiful van which I always try to park blocks away from everybody so I don't get any dings. WeLLLL I trashed the passenger side real good. I was ok but did I feel sick to my stomach. Can you imagine falling asleep at wheel in heavy trafic??? I was so lucky that no one got hurt. I will be sending my box on Monday To my ghoulish secret friend. Look for your box to reach you about Wednesday. HAHAHA everybody will be checking their mail, including me LOL LOts of hugs and smiles Carmen...See Moreupdate on laminate armstrong/wilsonart?
Comments (0)I have a family room on a cement slab and have baseboard heat. I cannot build up the floor so I have to put something on the slab, previously it was peek and stick tile from the previous owners 40 years ago,( lovely) I was debating between tile, laminate or engineered and have been looking at some laminates, I do love the look of the grand illusions premium grade which is the commercial grade and does not appear to have a lot of "shine" in the distressed patterns which I like. But reading all the previous posts I am very nervous. Has anyone used the grand illusions with a good experience? We do not intend to drag things across the floor but there are kids and soon a dog!! Should I look at the Wilsonart? I guess if all else fails I can put tile down but it is very cold. Any advice ?...See MoreIs our house not "grand" enough to pull this off?
Comments (31)Corinne, I agree with the others about that entryway not being especially appealing to me personally, but I *love* your sense of humor about yourself, and think you seem delightful! I also agree with the stair risers idea; that could be really fun, and you could have your shiny glam paper there without it being overwhelming, especially if you leave the rest white with just some shiny accents like the image Beverly provided. Decoenthusiaste's images are also lovely, IMO. And you have those cool stepped walls to the right of the door (when you walk in); maybe, if your heart is set on paper, paper *one* of those "steps?" I'd do the second one. So when you walk in you see the stair risers, but have a plain wall to your right; then when you take a few steps in, boom, there's a section of shiny paper that matches the stair risers. It's not overwhelming but it's there, just as an accent to the cool shiny silvers, mirrors, and glass; opulent but not overwhelming. And if you decide you hate it eventually, it's easy to take paper off just one wall section. (Tip: mix liquid fabric softener and water in a spray bottle to soften the glue. It works and it's cheaper than the expensive glue-removal sprays they sell. Plus it smells lovely!) Best of luck to you! Remember, it's your home, and it should be what you want. You seem like such a charming person, and I bet your home will be, too!...See More- 2 years ago
