Not really quilting ... but a really cool program

A friend of mine recently introduced me to the Sew Powerful Purse Project and I have to admit, I am hooked! Sew Powerful Purses has two purse patterns and they collect and send purses to Zambia. The goal is to help young women (teenagers) stay in school and pass their 7th level exams. The purses are filled with sanitary products (which are washable/reusable) so the girls are able to attend school when they have their periods.

The printed pattern isn't completely accurate, but it does have the measurements, so it was easy to fix. I thought it was my printer at first, but my friend said the same thing. The pattern also does not have the most practical placements for pieces - too much waste. I'm sure, like me, being quilters, you can figure that out!

So far I have completed 20 purses and have several cut and waiting to be sewn. They have a Facebook group, also. If you are interested, check it out!
