Need help with Shower!

We were changing out the shower faucet and they discovered a leak in the pipe behind the wall. They need to take the tile surrounding the valve off to fix it. I can no longer find this tile it this trim tile and so far nothing close enough that would look like it works to replace one tile. I thought about a bigger niche that would go around the shower and shower head but the tiles there are not centered so it will look off I am afraid. The s cons picture are the tiles on the floor and in the niches. Hoping maybe someone has other ideas?

What's on the other side of the wall? Could they get to the pipe from that side with a sheetrock repair?

Cabinets. The plumber is seeing if he possibly can. I told him I would pay a big bonus if he could figure that out!

Hello, it sounds like you are wanting a non diverter spout. This is one without a mechanism to divert the water to the shower head. It seems odd to me that you would have both installed in your shower but it should not be a large job to change the spout as long as you or the installer know how to remove it and replace with a new spout. Hope this helps.

I think the taupe in the floor tile may dominate the gray as I'm seeing a warm color palette. That's making the gray shower tile the odd man out. I think it also may be too contemporary with either of the shower floor tiles, and your home looks traditional. I could see either of those shower floor tiles with a large format subway tile in white for the shower walls. I also don't like the stripe of the wall tile with the stripe of the accent tile, nor with the splotchy floor tile. So I'd eliminate the gray wall tile. The first thing is finding a counter that works with the existing floor as there are limited counter choices. The colors are okay but the splotchy pattern is a bit similar. But it may be the best you can do. Or use a solid warm white, which gives you the same counter you have in quartz, and you're probably ready for a change. A white vanity will make that quartz appear a little warmer and that might be a nice way to separate the counter and floor. Are you keeping that vanity and painting it? Or ordering new doors and drawer fronts?

Your shower valve setback is likely not accurate and set to far out. What you have is an attempt to disguise it. As well the valve seems a little out of plumb, or the shower walls are not plumb. The fix is to reset the valve, sometimes we can open the wall behind the valve and adjust it w/o removing it and thats on the plumber. Or negotiate a discount and get a written wrrty that the trim wont leak into wall cavity, as that could soon create wet lumber that dries out between showers and causes movement and cracked tile walls in a worst case scenario. - best

Sorry but IMO the red stuff just doesn’t cut it in my book for waterproofing. As for the tile work the accent tile is a different thickness than the the rest and needs a good tile setter to install it.Could be that the tiles are in a stacked pattern which is fine but a tile saw needs to be kept in good condition so that cuts are always clean. I would be concerned about all of this work. You don’t mention what floor but I am assuming the shower floor, which means the ripped out the bad and replaced hmmm not good I would insist on a complete redo

Show the other side. You have no idea how long that was leaking.......and you have no idea how much mold could be behind the plumbing.

Anytime there is a leak in a wall the best fix is a redo so rip out all the tile fix the leak rewaterproof preperly and new tile . Big bonus those dated tiles need to be gone anyway. Too much risk of damage behind walls to try to repair only this bit and I can almost bet the niche is also leaking .

It will be cheaper to remove and reinstall cabinets than to start messing with the waterproofing in the shower unless you are signed up for a whole guy remodel.

Thanks all. The collective feel like that we will go through the cabinet. It will mean deconstructing the shelves but agree this will be the best way to go. The drip was very small and appears to be confined to one area that we have been drying
Our house is going on the market in a few weeks. Definitely did now want a complete remodel
