window treatment dilemma- please help!
Comments (5)There are a couple of ways to treat a round top window. As you stated, one is to have the curtain rod above the top, with curtain panels that open and close. However, for a bedroom that you want to block light, you'd need rather heavy bulky curtains. And you'd have a large stack back for them to be full enough to open/close. You could also have a pleated shade custom cut to the shape of the window. Now the last option is to remove the half circle window. I had one of those in my bedroom and removed it and replaced it with a 12" transom. I also installed an awning outside to block the western sun. I have another of those windows in a family room and had a honeycomb shade made. Honestly, though, the shade is NEVER open, so it defeats the purpose of the window, and I'm considering removing that one as well....See MoreHelp! Sectional sofa in front of windows dilemma
Comments (29)What does the 4th wall in your room look like? Is it possible to rearrange things? Give it a quarter turn so that it is no longer in front of the windows. In other words, one section on the back wall and the other section would be where the TV / console currently set. The TV could then be on that (unseen) 4th wall. I also think the TV is mounted too high....See MoreHelp! Urgent wainscot + window dilemma
Comments (17)Technically it’s correct. Visually it looks wrong. Adding those little pieces is like trying to keep the detail that used to be there prior to enlarging the window. With the now large window this section of the wall is all about the window, not the wainscoting. If you leave the detail (the short vertical pieces) visually it looks like you’re trying to squeeze in wainscoting and a huge window. Let it be one thing (window) or the other thing (wainscoting) but not both. Remove those little pieces....See MoreWindow seat drape/curtain dilemma! Please help!
Comments (4)Thank you so much for weighing in! The window seats will be on each side of the TV wall under the windows shown in the above picture. :) So, other than the picture window on the far left (shown in original post) there are no other small windows with panels. This said, you have helped me so much! I will do cornices over the three small windows to match the material for the picture window decorative panels!! Phew!! I am so glad I came here to ask because I was about to finalize a quote for these panels that clearly would have been all wrong! Also going to make sure panels anywhere in house reach the floor since I just learned my 1” above floor is too short. Haha...See MoreSuzanne Leigh
