Paint color to match Fabuwood Frost cabinets

Since purchasing paint from Fabuwood, the manufacturer of my cabinets is costly, i did a color consult for my kitchen trim to match my Fabuwood Frost cabinets, with Lori Sawaya at The Land of Color,. She often answers readers’ paint dilemma questions on this board and so I felt comfortable in contacting her.. The process was very easy, reasonably priced and the results outstanding. I scanned my cabinet door using the color muse reader and sent her the screen shots. From her color DNA tables, she determined that the hue and chroma of BM CC-10 Ultra White was an exact match to the Frost cabinets, and BM OC-151 White was a very close second. I ordered both samples from Samplize and she is 100% correct. She also recommended a satin finish on the paint for the trim.

For this consult, Lori also gave me paint color options for my kitchen, hallway and powder room walls from an inspiration fabric that I also scanned. All my proposed choices were confirmed. I am now at peace with these decisions and can go buy my paint with confidence. And besides her clear color expertise, I found Lori to be a lovely person. If you are struggling with color choices as i was and want to avoid costly painting errors, I highly recommend her service.

Sorry but I would NEVER make paint choices off a monitor . I know Lori is the guru of paint but IMO ther eis no magic formula for color choices other than seeing them in my space with my lighting and my stuff. Any good paint store could have color matched your cabinet door

Agree, we don't make paint choices off a monitor.

Or pictures.

Uninstalling a chunk of cabinetry and taking it to a paint store results in the closest color they sell.

They don't know if a better match exists in another brand and wouldn't tell you if it did - especially with colors of white.

That's the paint base info. My guess since there's no label/formula is it's White OC-151.

It isn’t any retail paint manufacturers stock color. Take piece of filler and have a custom color match done. But the sheens will not match, nor will the durability of an actual cabinet finish be there with wall paint. You know that you can buy the actual manufacturer’s coating, right? But then tou need the pro level application equipment and skill to get it to match the cabinets.

Who custom mixes them could have an effect, which is why they always suggest buying and batching the paint as it can also differ can to can. How were these painted? Was it a stock color with one manufacturer and custom with another? " Is this expected? " See above. " Will the color tones adjust to be closer over time? No. They will fade pretty much equally. " Not sure how this can be fixed without a complete re-paint. " Only way is to repaint. Who would you have repaint? What method do you anticipate being used?

All due respect:

There is no need to remove a "chunk of cabinetry" as a simple unscrewed drawer front will suffice.

Access to a Ben Moore store/Ace Hardware or other is usually simple.

You walk that drawer front into the store, with these words :

"I need to match the white of this drawer front"

Having done this over the decades with I've lost count how many colors? I can say you need 40 minutes max to a perfect match : ) Custom mixed in any finish you are seeking.

Absolutely no need to remove a chunk of cabinetry even if that chunk involves unscrewing a drawer front.

Because with less than 10 minutes of effort you can get not just color match information that a paint store is limited to providing but also expanded tint/tone/shade color options to go with.

No need for you (or your drawers) to leave the house.
