Hosta Wide Screen Shots 2023 ...............................
Comments (20)I took these just for today. Here is where I grow ..... This is what I call my greenhouse. The hostas will end up on the back row. Cacti and other sun lovers Starting bench with hosta still hanging outside. Still in early spring. My lake. haha It really is a retention pond, but I love it. Always something happening out there. That is me from all 4 sides. Oh, there is a lock back on the gates. Sadly that is not my eagle. He is down in South West Florida and I watch him on cam. I have been lucky enough to have seen Bald Eagles over my house twice last year. Super cool....See MoreHosta Blue 2023 ........................................
Comments (34)Debra, the difference between 'Blue Ivory' and Ben Vernooij' is easy to see, particularly early in the season. For me it's telling 'Firn Line' and 'Blue Ivory' apart. Here's a "family portrait". Starting center top: 'First Frost' and 'Firn Line' to the left of that, then below 'Firn Line' is 'Blue Ivory' (now you see why I've got difficulty telling them apart) and below that at the 3 o'clock position is 'Ben Vernooij'. Coming across to the left is 'Touch of Frost' and then another 'Blue Ivory' with 'Bulletproof' at 7 o'clock . Directly above that is 'Touch of Class' x2 and that's been a very unstable plant for me, throwing the 2 'Touch of Frost' sports to the right of it. At 9 o'clock just peeking into the image is 'Ripple Effect', To the left of 'First Frost' is 'Remember Me' and to the left of THAT is "Sleeping Beauty'.....and they're all related! Pieter P.S. Quite possibly the reason I have difficulty with my 'Firn Line' and 'Blue Ivory' is because one of them is mis-labeled....likely the 'Firn Line'... but that's for another day......See MoreHosta Yellow 2023 .......................

Laurie and debra..I love your comments about my Fire Islands 💕..beacon is a great nickname..both of you have a boatload of beacons!.. to me a yellow hosta in the spring is very special.. I love that Prairie Moon is yellow and Prairie Sky is blue..they would be pretty planted together.....See MoreHosta Flowers 2023 .........................
Comments (18)'Fragrant Blue'... and yes, it's fragrant for me. 'Sea Octopus' 'Sea Octopus' rectifolia var. Pruinosa with an unusual whorled arrangement of flowers 'Bulletproof' 'Stained Glass' 'Fragrant Dream' These flowers are on what supposedly is venusta, but they do not look like any flowers I've seen on the web from this specie. I'd love to find out what it in fact is, particularly since it was sporting when I purchased it a few years ago. Yes, the plant does remind one of venusta but I have my doubts. 'Nightlife' 'Amime Tachi' aka Siberian Tiger rectifolia var. Pruinosa...yes, I know, this is not the first picture of it I'm showing but it makes such an impressive showing when in full bloom 'First Blush' 'Tick Tock' 'Spider' 'Ray of Hope' which is fact has stabilized and turned into 'Roller Coaster Ride' and supposedly RoH comes out of laevigata. but it's remarkably reluctant to set pods, never mind seeds. Pieter...See Moreperen.all Zone 5a Ontario Canada
