Hosta H 2023 ...........................
Comments (31)Debra - your Hanky Panky may be the best one I've seen. Such clean crisp colors and perky, folded leaves for August. peren - yours is massive and really showcases how pretty the variation in colors can be. And it has such a variation in appearance through the year. Mine inevitably gets some weird combination of leaf colors . . . Here's mine in May before the colors get confused High Voltage - one where the color changes from very subtle variegation to not-so-subtle. Here it is in the middle of the transition. This just keeps getting better. One I always look forward to just beginning to put on some of that Sum and Substance Size - How About That!...See MoreHosta R 2023 ...........................
Comments (33)Wow, a million dollars to spend on hosta! That would be a dream! Now if it were just to be used for buying hosta, then I think that money would last me my lifetime. But I would have to share some of that money because I know that giving the money to hosta enthusiasts would make them so happy. But I would really want to move to a better home with a bigger and better suited garden for hosta. I am tired of dealing with maple roots. I want no maple trees on my property or even the neighbor's property! tsugajunkie, that Rhythm and Blues is gorgeous and absolutely perfect. Everyone's Rainbow's End hosta is pretty! An excellent hosta! Saija, a picture perfect Ruffled Mouse Ears! Beth and Debra, your pretty Robert Frost hosta are making me rethink my plan for Robert Frost. I gave Robert Frost one of my prime planting places and it didn't do well last year. It had drawstring. So this winter I am thinking that it had it's chance. I should remove it and give that nice spot to another hosta. But after seeing your pictures, maybe I will give it one more year. I do have a smaller Robert Frost in another part of my garden (a division of the same hosta) and it did well. Go figure! So here was my Robert Frost You can see the drawstring edges...See MoreHosta V 2023 .....................................

Comments (27)Peren, BA sits under the dense shade of my King Crimson Red Maple. It gets late afternoon sun for a couple of hours. When it rains I can measure how significant a rain it was because BA only gets wet if it’s been pouring for a while. I have toyed with the idea of taking some pieces from it and putting them in more sun, but it is one of my largest hostas and it’s been in that spot for years. I noticed last year that it seems to be shrinking a bit, so I may have to get Bert’s help to dig it up and pull out the maple roots……dreading that! Krossa is not getting any more overhead moisture than the rest of my garden. I do try to root water and don’t use a sprinkler. Paula, thanks for the info on potting soil. 👍🏽 debra...See Moreindianagardengirl
