Coordinating coffee table and console table....and rug?
Comments (20)The matching console table in your first set of photos looks too tall for the back of your sofa. Be sure to note measurements. Agree the dropleaf, while pretty on its own, doesn't seem a good fit for a console table in your space. Not sure why... maybe because looking at it straight on means not fully appreciating the ironwork behind the leaf. I usually love a fabric or leather ottoman for practicality (additional seating) but your furniture arrangement doesn't need any additional seating. I think a solid coffee table would work best....See MoreColor advice to coordinate furniture with this rug
Comments (29)Hi katycat24- You mentioned a messy child and a grubby dog. Will this be your family room? It is important to be realistic about the wear and tear the fabrics on your seating will sustain. Have you thought about a more casual look for this stage of your life than velvet and have sturdy washable (and even bleachable) slipcovers made for a couch, loveseat and easy chair? This way you and your family and guests can enjoy your room and relax just as you want them to. Why not have a look at The Slipcover Maker on this website https://slipcovermaker.com/fabrics/ that I found just by chance. A well-made slipcover fits neatly and doesn't look sloppy at all. Here's another unrelated thought, I don't know how long you plan to stay in this house, but sometimes people buy a sectional, and then when they move, or their needs change, the sectional doesn't fit the configurations of the next place they live or another room at all. And do people really want to squash themselves in the corner of the sectional? Maybe a sofa and a loveseat will do the same thing, or a sofa and two chairs, and a big ottoman besides. Just a thought. Your rug is beautiful. What is its origin? If you do a light colored (washable in the washing machine!) slipcover you can have vivid throw pillows to mach your beautiful rug, and also coordinate your wall art....See MoreColor coordination / Which area rug with my new living room?
Comments (9)I don't think the top rug is going to work with your floor AT ALL, at least if the colors I'm seeing are halfway true. The gold in the rug is just going to make the floor look purple. The second rug is a maybe, as it has a variety of colors including some cooler tones....See MoreLooking for new companion chairs with grey sofa. See photos.
Comments (19)Coral, deep green, or orange are very on trend; teal, magenta, plum or grey work too! Something you see and go Oh I love that! Do you want high low or medium contrast in the room. If you choose grey then your accents can be all the other colors suggested. If you choose a color, say Orange, you will have more orange and maybe one other color accent in the room. Look on Houzz for grey sofa with accent chairs for some inspiration. You have a lovely room.... one step at a time...... you will probably be adding lighting, area rug, curtains, accessories on tables and art over the fireplace, so take your time and enjoy the ride!...See Morejanicema8
