What color roof and trim would you use for this brick?

Current roof is this orange color…the roof needs to be replaced soon, so I’m hoping to start over with a new roof and trim color to give the house a little makeover. I included a picture of the front door, since it is staying…my husband loves it…I’m not a fan, but trying to work with it.

I think medium gray to charcoal shingles would look nice with your brick. I would want the shingles to be more solid in color than variegated. Better not to add more pattern with your brick.

This actually isn't our house, just one we saw with this brick that we took a picture of. The brick is CBC Cromwell, with white mortar. We've discovered that brick with any other color mortar, or even white mortar thats too thin...creates a completely different look. We almost decided against it, but then realized that the mortar needs to be white and a tad thicker than normal to create that look.

Can you show us a picture of the roof color? Are you interested in possibly removing the awning? I think a pretty mid-tone blue (what shade exactly would depend on the color of the roof) would look pretty, with white trim. For your door, I would consider a navy though I kind of like the way it looks now with the white.

How about a historic color like Kendall Charcoal. It is a deep gray. The finish can be a satin or semi-gloss, so it has some sheen.

Ok, so medium gray - charcoal shingles without variegation. What trim color should I do? A warm white? Or should I do a dark trim, like a dark grey?

I would use charcoal, or a very dark brown from your brick. I totally agree solid color shingles, no variegation in them. It doesnt go well with your brick.

Charcoal for the roof and please a door that suits the house style no matter what hubby thinks it is all wrong and a new one needs to have some glass and what is with those black windows?

I like the door, although it is a bit rustic looking. It has character. Leave it.

I grew up in a house with that color brick. Except our house had black mortar, which I think looks great with that color brick. You can re-color the mortar, and it would tie into your existing door better. The product is like a paint, and you paint it on the mortar. A bit time consuming, but since your house is a one-story, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Yes, i need to remove the dark screens. They’re just the only screens that came with the house, and I like being able to open the windows. You must live in the north…a lot of people have these screens where I live, as they significantly lower energy costs in the summer. Due to the tree, I don’t think they’re necessary on those windows though and I’ve only left them up so I can open the windows.

The door is non-negotiable. He likes the door, as it seems does every man who comes to the house haha! If it wasn’t so expensive to replace I’m sure I could twist his arm.

The door is fine! The house has kind of a vaguely rustic Euro cottagey vibe so why not. People above are posting big, more formal house styles that arent anything like your house. Is it solid or veneer? Either way this door would be very easy to refinish and stain in a warm weathered gray or rich gray-brown shade, lose the yellow .
