Homemaker's rendition looks purplish on my monitor too. I can do an awful lot with my photo program. I took my husband's leg, foot and a bottom of a chair out of a picture taken at my son's house and replaced him with a big potted plant I had at my house. I took about 30 pix of my then 8 year old youngest son and my baby grandaughter on the sofa together and when one looked good the other was staring out into space with a goofy look. ..in every single shot! I finally put two pictures into one and it looked great. No one can tell that i did anything to alter these photos. But I CANNOT colorize a picture for beans. No matter what I do it looks terrible and not nearly even close to what the color I picked looks like. Is it me? Is it Photosuite? Or is it a normal failing of these programs? I can never get any sublety into the colors. When I need to colorize something I go looking for something around the house that's the right color, scan it into the computer, get it onto my photo, then use the cloning feature.

Adam, the revised Option 2 can't be beat! :) Regarding the stucco porch...quirky, but original and somehow it does work with the style. With that, you can forego the screen door, and keep a good coat of marine varnish on the main door. You can't tell from my pic, but my original door is oak with a single long bevelled glass window. Still has the original varnish, but has been covered by a wooden storm/screen door probably since 1915 or so. The screen door has a slightly raised panel in the bottom, and the screen and storm are held in by spiders and cam screws. The screen has two crossbars about 1/2 way up, and the storm has eight lights in two vertical rows of four. I stripped untold layers of black paint from it and it looks like pretty decent oak. My screen door on the back porch came from Lowes in the early 90s, and is falling apart, as is the similar one on the south side of the house. Modern just can't match old work! Paint colors are so personal...I opted for period colors on my house, although it was white when I bought it, the original colors were chocolate brown with beige-ivory trim like the house next door. My sash were black originally, but the other popular color for turn of the century was a dark green-black or Indian Red. I could really see your house in something like Olive Drab with Straw trim...check out Roger Moss' Victorian Exterior Decoration for the authoritative work on color choices for houses before the 1940s. Even the best windows money can buy will not save you anything if your leaking inside air out your doors or HVAC (heating & air conditioning) system. Ounce you know where your home is leaking, you can purchase a good middle of the road window for your home. The money you save by not buying the top shelf window can be used to seal up your home. Ounce this is done your efficiency will be a savings of 40% to even 70% on your homes energy bills. By doing it this way you are "guaranteed", (yes I mean it) the savings to your home! TDL or True Divided Lights, are the old school grids which make separate openings which you must clean one at a time. Just like Grandma's old house down on the farm. SDL or Simulated Divided Lights incorporate internal aluminum muntins and external grids with a single insulated panel of glass to simulate a true divided light. Removable grids are the snap in wooden grilles that remove for cleaning the glass easier. Most manufacturers such as Marvin, Pella and Andersen make their own grilles. They are not made by another company. You can get them from companies who just make these grilles for the DIY stores and smaller manufacturer's. Last but not least there are "Internal Grilles". These are inside the IGU (insulated glass unit) which give the grid appearance without any protruding muntins on the exterior sides of the glass. I think the issue is that your mulls between the windows are much wider than the trim around the windows. I had a similar issue in our new build, but since I had a wide lintel above the windows, it balanced the wider mulls. We had to do the wider mulls due to hurricane/impact building codes. Paint the mulls the same color as the windows so they look like the windows/doors below.
