Twins’ quilts are finished!

Finished the binding on these this week. You may remember from my earlier post that a friend at work is having identical twin girls in May. Since I’m retiring at the end of next month I finished the quilts early. We’ll be having a shower for her before I go. I wanted coordinated but not identical quilts so they will know whose is whose when they are older.

The quilting machine (Grace Q’nique 15 Pro) is packed up in its box for the move. I’m excited to get into our new home and my new sewing room!

How many blocks for a twin size quilt?

Vicky, Rene again, I did a quick search on my Quilt Pro software, this is what I found, a twin quilt is 72x90 that is a quilt police measurment LOL if you do 4 12" blocks across, and 6 down, a 2" sashing, and a border you deside what that can be, I'd put a 6 or 7 " that would bring your width a little over 66" but length 94", and you would need 24 blocks. I don't use the program much, for a special reason, I don't follow orders very well ! I think you have an idea of what you want so get "cracken" Waiting to see photos Rene

I need to find the post of the quilter here that had a penny hidden in her quilt as a child. I couldn’t find any references on line about it, but penny's always seem lucky, like finding one is supposed to bring you good luck. The new mom loved the quilt! I forgot to get a picture of the baby with it. Rose was sleeping and not happy when she woke up!

Lois, we are building a house in a small town in north Florida called Live Oak. It’s about 170 miles north of where we are in Winter Garden. Hubby has been living in an apartment up there since last June, supervising the build. It’s nearly done! They’re installing appliances and baseboards. Carpet was just laid yesterday and today. I think about all that is left is hanging a few doors, putting up blinds in all the windows, and screening the back porch. We are really ready to be done. Our builder and his crew have been a dream to work with.

We decided a few years ago that we were tired of dealing with the ever-increasing traffic and overcrowding in metro Orlando (population 2,000,000 or more). Live Oak is in a very agricultural area and the population is around 10,000.

My official last day at work is March 29 ( though I may work remotely part-time for a few months). We are planning to move toward the end of April.

Your two quilts are lovely and I'm sure those twins will cherish them!
