Help! squirrel stuck in between fireplace & wall
Comments (3)Nevermind, I got the squirrel out. Just when I was ready to pour vegetable oil in between the wall and the fireplace, I decided to try one last thing. I had the wire from our outdoor speakers running between the wall and the outdoor fireplace to the other side of the fireplace, so I disconnected the wire from the stereo system and from that end, I pulled the speaker wires up and kept pulling a little harder and up. I could feel tension and was hoping the squirrel was being moved frontward and up towards the wider depth from the wall and fireplace. At one point I stopped to peak behind the fireplace and between the wall and I could see that the squirrel had been moved with the wire closer to the wider depth. I got a long yard ruler and between the wire and the ruler I was able to pry and push the squirrel outward. It ran out and onto our hill and I went into the house and I could see the poor thing running back and forth on the hill trying to get over the wall to the other side of the field..where it probably lives. I felt so bad, as at one point I could see the squirrels eyes closing and I knew it could not stay there much longer, squashed like it was with no space to move. It was so deep into the smaller area of the wall with no space to do anything. Anyhow, a happy ending..to the story....See More72"+ Fireplace. Stuck between Dimplex IgniteXL or Napoleon Allure

Comments (7)Great to have the feedback, thank you!! Just one note, the tile in there is not original, it was put in by the previous owner in the 70s. Hence why I’m ok taking it out. I have definitely thought about making it one level but it’s hooked directly into the original cast iron toilet drain pipe. The reason why it steps up is to reach that, so I fear the expense of fixing that would double the overall project cost. I’m researching the mirror over the window piece but still uncertain how I’ll like it. Maybe if we could enlarge the window slightly I could get more on board. I have found some great tiles though. I LOVE dark moody bathrooms @s.Allen so the compromise I’m narrowing in on is a dark green accent tile and black grout on the floor to give some pop to a marble sheet tile. We are trying for storage so we can get rid of some of the strange shelving/cabinet combos and found this floating vanity. I also found a bi-fold shower door that will help with spacing! We just are hoping we can find the right size. I’m loving the idea of gold hardware to try to get more Art Deco vibes....See MoreStuck on living room design adjacent to kitchen
Comments (6)A fireplace in the corner limits furniture placement. A sectional sofa limits furniture placement, but if you're wanting a single sofa large enough for a large family, that might well be your only option. The other drawback of a sectional sofa is that if any part of it gets worn or torn or stained, then you could end up needing to replace the entire sofa to be rid of the problem. How many people -- adults/children -- do you need to have seated and what are the ages of any children? How do you feel about a standard two seat sofa for adults and modern bean bag chairs, easily movable to/from bedrooms, for the children? https://www.google.com/search?q=modern+bean+bag+chairs&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwis1cXLovnvAhWZElkFHROSBZoQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1329&bih=620 The room is not huge and you don't want to crowd it -- especially if you're adding a bar to the island -- so you might want to use narrow tables. https://www.wayfair.com/17-Stories--Mayon-End-Table-X113953506-L442-K~W002842495.html?refid=GX433553610453-W002842495&device=c&ptid=902723281400&network=g&targetid=aud-354999624671:pla-902723281400&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=107198117&fdid=1817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3uzi1aH57wIVwZJbCh0hBwaTEAQYBSABEgJiR_D_BwE or even portable tv tables rather than larger, more traditional end/side tables. https://www.wayfair.com/Zipcode-Design%E2%84%A2--Siloam-C-End-Table-X112527357-L442-K~W000914252.html?refid=GX433553610453-W000914252_1874718480&device=c&ptid=966746374237&network=g&targetid=aud-354999624671:pla-966746374237&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=98554965&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=1874718480&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpJy3kqL57wIVZYlbCh3ynA1XEAQYBCABEgKJsPD_BwE...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
