Finally, I got it to post a picture. Original Post: We are struggling with laying out our master bedroom area. It is a small area, about 15'x22'x8'high. The entry into the room cannot move, but the french door that leads out to the backyard can be relocated. We would like to have a double vanity, walk-in shower, walk-in closet, and if possible a soaking tub. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

1.Have the bathroom entrance from closet? or keep them separate? Separate entrances are generally better, but the entrances right next to each other as indicated is the second best option. Saves walking through the wet bathroom unnecessarily, and waiting or disturbing the person using the bathroom to get to the closet. 2.General Bathroom layout - any better layouts? with current layout our vanity can't be more than 4ft, will it be small for this bathroom? If you're still planning, dimensions aren't fixed as with some renos. You can often shuffle things around if you need. The bathroom is decently sized, but not massive. Don't cram a 7ft shower into it, and waste valuable space. The layout below shows a 3'3"x4'7" shower, and leaves space for a 6' vanity Do let us know how this fits into the entire plan. A 28 inch wide pinch point opening into a 48 inch wide corridor to the closet doesn't make sense to me. Move the door to the corner of the room, and design a bed setup which minimizes the width of the nightstands and uses the headboard area for lighting and shelf space. There are lots of creative ideas for eliminating nightstands and this would give you an extra 4 feet of length in the bedroom. Seems a small price to pay for a spacious bedroom! If the desired position for the bed in the master is to the facing the front window, wouldn't that also be the desired position for the bed in the adjoining room? I would eliminate the linen closet and extend the wall dividing the bedrooms all the wall across the hall and put the room door in that wall. Then take the space currently used by the hallway, linen closet and reach in closet and combine that into a large 6'6" x 8' walk in closet with the door facing the room door. That gets you much more storage space and the option of placing the bed on the 8'2" wall. Yes, that is tight spacing for a queen bed, but the added flexibility in placing furniture would be a nice option.

I would think the most popular configuration would be what is typical for a house with three bedrooms. It would have a master bedroom with an ensuite of a nice size. A nice shower would be preferred by most people rather than a tub and small shower or a tub shower combination. The two guest bedrooms would share a bathroom and that bathroom would have a tub shower combination. I have always lived in dense urban areas (Manhattan and now Los Angeles high rise condo) and that would be the configuration for your target audience. Having three small master bathrooms would be a configuration if you were renting to three unrelated people who needed to share the rent and personally I don't think that is the optimum tenant as families and empty nesters are more reliable and probably long term versus constantly moving as young unrelated professionals would.
