On the floor plan ... I don't think your sliding doors and windows only add up to 7' 5" or is that only the sliders and you omitted the windows?

Yes, 7’5” is just the (inside) trim to trim of the slider!

Ouch! I feel your pain! Can the dining room and TV/ living room be switched?

Have you considered floating the sofa in the middle-ish part of the room, facing the fireplace? Put the chairs on either side and put the TV on the fireplace wall. It would be a little high but not terribly so. Or you could angle it in on a stand in the corner, it's hard to tell if there is room by the sliders in your picture.

Hmm the dining is 14’x13’, and would make a really cozy living room, but the living room is 21ish’ x 14’ and would be a massive space for a dining room, theres only 2 adults in our house lol I’m not sure what other purpose i would have for the current living room, we already have a few auxiliary bonus rooms (ping pong room, office, and second living room)

@deegw ok i did 2 quick mock ups, placing the couch about 9/10 feet from the sofa ( the white chairs are currently at 10 feet from the tv, and its prob the max disance for our tv size)

I feel like they both kind of split the room in half? The paths of travel seem to be pretty tight, but our green couch is wider than most.

How many guests do you want to accommodate? Please believe me I can come up with all kinds of things that you can use that living room space for. Including a dining room table. Can the TV go in the second living room?

Close! I was thinking that the sofa would go closer to the dining room entry. Middle-ish is subjective, I know. Would the sofa work if it were placed perpendicular to the area just to the right of the windows in your mock-up?

@Mae Day Organizing and Interior Design in my dream world , none LOL. The second living room is downstairs (not main living level), has 2 tvs, and is more of a watch sports on a giant sectional vibe, not that i want this upstairs room to be formal, as it gets daily use between me and my husband.

Currently our *few* guests sit on the green couch uncomfortably with a tv behind their heads 😑😂

@deegw ok new mock up lol i added the windows that were missing as well. so the blue part of the door is the one that opens that i would like to keep access to.

I like the look of the couch scooted back, but for the guests who sit on it (im a recliner girl) they would be way too far to see the tv- but I guess that would spur on conversations, or a larger tv 😅

Have you considered a sectional that floats in the middle of your room. They have motion sectionals where the headrest comes up when reclining. That way it can be a shorter height to not block your view outside, but when your relaxing you have a nice head rest.

Hi Beverly, thank you so much for making this! Unfortunately there’s a window where you put the tv- The windows were not included in my original mockup. A corner unit could go in that corner, although I do have mixed feelings about corner tv units? 🫤

I would turn the green couch around so it's facing wall with TV (if sitting on couch window is behind you)

2 white chairs with round side table between them having their own moment by the fire place

Rug under green couch with coffee table (might need a round coffee table)

Oh my word! At least you have a great sense of humor. It seems as if you’ve moved the furniture around in every configuration possible. The only thing you haven’t done is turn it upside down.😂. It pains me to see you try to make this room into a room to watch TV comfortably. it’s almost like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. This room just doesn’t want to be a TV room.🙂 that’s why I keep asking about other rooms. We will build the room and the dining room just to see if there’s anything that can be done. But you’ve had so many suggestions already. We’ll see. We have some ideas. Let's see if they will work for you. 😊

You of course, will have to shorten your pendant lamp that was over the dining room table. We had to do the same thing when we converted our dining room into another room. Ours was on a chain so we cut some of the chain links out and re-linked them up higher. Best wishes.
