Ok I need help choosing a siding color and or rock? We are having new gutters and downspouts installed in couple weeks. They will be white. All trim is going back to white. I'm undecided on what color shutters also. I know there's alot to do but it's gonna be one thing at a time. So let's just stick to color for siding and shutters for now

This is a pic I was just playing with. I thought I would like a clay siding but I'm not sure !!! I think the white siding is too much white for me .

I'd do the siding in a warm brown. I would put cream gutters on, you don't want bright white with that warm brick.

"More modern" says to me: remove the shutters and square off the upper corners of the garage. If the circular vent over the door is not needed, maybe you could fill it in with siding. I'm not a paint color expert so I'm not sure what color would look best for the siding. I agree that a darker garage door with windows across the top in a contemporary configuration would be good. Maybe wood, with a matching wooden front door. Larger lamps of a more modern design over the garage and by the front door would also help. Removing the half-circle window over the front door and enlarging the front door entry to have larger sidelights may not be possible depending on what's inside and what the cost would be. Then -- the landscaping -- the hedges should all be removed and looser, more modern plantings put in. Maybe Digdoug designs could weigh in; I don't know how to "alert" him!

I loved the window boxes I had on the front windows of a home I owned in a 6A climate. They also really helped the resale of the house. They will need to be bare in winter, although I put pine boughs on mine. If I were designing yours i would make the box just a bit wider than the bottom sill, with mitered molding on top, and then angled down sides to a bottom that is the same width as the window sill. People often make window boxes too shallow,, which makes it harder for the plants to get enough room for roots, but also looks flimsy and insubtantial aesthetically. I might look for a way to echo the diamond design of your leaded glass in some subtle fashion, and I would be sure that the box coordinated with the look of the door. If you choose a window box it is better to have very low key plantings in bed below. I had compact azeleas.

If you're set on black window frames, i'd suggest painting the shutters a more gentle color. The facade is wide and the windows can benefit from some 'side support' to keep looking well proportioned. Similar with the concrete stepping stones, by the way, great idea just make them wider. And i personally wouldn't keep a red brick patio when all other reds and browns are removed. Your home is totally different from your inspo pic, it will never look that way and that's totally ok as it's a lovely house.

Personally, I would not paint your brick. I think it looks very nice. What I would change is as follows: 1. New house numbers. What you have looks cheesy. 2. New light fixture. Something bigger than you have. 3. Personally I would lose the shutters. 4. Paint your front door a vibrant color to stand out against the brick. 5. Landscape with some flowering bushes and get rid of all the depressing green bushes. Re-evaluate at that point to determine if these relatively simple fixes are all you need. Good luck!..

^^ Agree, you don't want white gutters or trim. Cream would be by far better than white, but even better than that would be dark brown gutters that mirror the color of the dark bricks you have. Look how beautiful the color of the dark brown shutters in your mock-ups look against your brick -- same concept with the gutters.

Pick a color from the brick, and I agree with the others, white isnt quite right for your house with the warmer colors of the brick. Cream would look much nicer on your house. You also mentioned stone. No, to that. It would make the house look way too busy.

A soft sage green is good with brick. Do you have to replace the siding or can it be painted? Use the opportunity to remove the shutters. It’s a great house!
