Need help with mirror/vanity light
Comments (6)The mirror you see is actually our bedroom mirror, it goes above the dresser. When I painted the bathroom I took down the old peeling mirror and didn't bother putting it back (it was HEAVY). So, I could lower this one a bit so it doesn't collide with the light shades and live with it, but then I'd need to find another bedroom mirror (which would be easier though), but I'd also have to worry about this one peeling from water splashes. This one is too pretty to ruin. My husband splashes :-( I do like the idea of an oval, may flowers, and a 3-light fixture, thanks. Do you think a beveled oval would be nice, or should it have a frame?...See MoreNeed help figuring out size of mirror and lights
Comments (7)Traditional lighting for bathrooms in my experience has always been to the side of the mirror. I grew up in a house that had side lighting from the 40's or so. Now in the old house I married into we had side lighting from the same era. We lived with it for over 20 years and just recently remodeled. I continued to go with side lights because of the better visibility. I use the mirror to put on makeup and my husband uses it to shave. We need the side lighting for visibility. Lighting should be about function first, then form :) JMHO....See MoreNeed help with mirror size for 60" double vanity
Comments (4)Thank you for your response..I have 6" of wall space on each side from the edge of the vanity. I was thinking I will go with 20" even though I am yearning for 22". I want to go as high as possible for an 8' ceiling and 36" high vanity. Does 40" work? Too high and narrow? I cannot find any pictures. Just my freehand sketches......See MoreNeed help with the right vanity lights for this Rustic Vanity.
Comments (17)clear glass with Edison style light bulbs will give you either not enough light or an orange colored light. This is why I tend toward a frosted glass, so you can put the light bulb you like in it. IDK what stage you are at but I would tape out the mirror size you like and see where that would land sconces. What about doing a metal-framed mirror in a copper or ORB finish? I lean toward circular for some reason,...See Moreetravel3965
