Stairs that aren't the same width/can't use same wood $$$$ as floor

We have beautiful Cumaru hardwood on our first floor and will now be adding it to our upstairs hallway. We also want to redo our stair and have ripped out the ugly carpeting that covered the pine treads (not in great shape). We would like hardwood on the stairs but the cost of Cumar stair (re)treads is rdiculous (abot $130 per stair).

I will also be replacing the handrail, spindles and newel post with a more simple, modern design.

I am thinking about using a 2nd wood tone for the stairs. What do you all think of mixing the wood tones? And suggestions for what would go with the Cumaru?
