I thought there was a forum here to help with pc questions and problems but I cannot locate it. If it exists does someone have a link they can point me to? Thanks.

btw, it's a simple problem > I use gmail and cannot figure out how to delete old contacts from my contact list. Gmail "Settings" is of no help unless I'm missing a step?

I have a bookmark for Gmail contacts, to make it easier to edit contacts, but as Carol pointed out, you can access contacts from Gmail by clicking on the nine dots arranged in a square in the upper right corner. I recommend that you create a bookmark for contacts once you are there, to make it easier for the future.

Incidentally, when asking a computer question, it is helpful to identify what platform you are using. I am currently on a desktop computer with Windows 10. I never access email from my phone, and I never access the internet from my phone, except in an extreme emergency. In fact, I very seldom use my phone at all, except to make phone calls and talk to someone, although I do have it use it to access my pool equipment, security cameras, thermostats, and sprinkler system.

Found this by searching "how to delete contacts in Gmail."

To delete a Google contact on a computer, log into https://contacts.google.com. Check the box next to the contact, click "⁝", and then click "Delete" twice.

On Android, open the Contacts app. Tap the box next to the contact, tap "⁝", and then tap "Delete" twice.

On iOS, log into https://contacts.google.com in a mobile browser. Tap the box next to the contact, tap "⁝", and then tap "Delete" twice.

My computer has the sniffles. It is still working but things won't update. I'm sure it will eventuallly have to be reformatted. I agree, it is vital to save all your pictures and documents. I know from first hand experience how devastating it can be to lose cherished pictures. Glad to see you back online!

I believe that the item you described is to adapt wifi connection to a computer that didn't have wifi installed in it. If you have a wifi computer, it's of no use to you. I have one on an old laptop, it works to adapt it on the outside what the others have inside them.

Okay.....I did both updates, and then I ran JavaRa and removed all old versions. But then I went to the Mozilla Plugin Check Page, and saw that it still listed my Java as old and outdated. So I said okay, and I clicked Update--whereupon we went through the installation process again. However, the previous time I selected the 64-bit version because that's what my computer is, and this time I chose the 32-bit version. Now Mozilla says all my plug-ins are current and secure. Of course, I still can't load MSNBC and assorted other sites with Firefox. :-/ Since we've made all these changes, do you think it would help if I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox?

That forum's not completely dead, but I'm thinking you'll likely get more help right here.

It is weird how it it doesn't seem possible to access contacts from the gmail page. I've been wondering about that myself, so many thanks to sephia 🙂

Aha - found the link on the gmail page - it's the apps grid (9 dots) @ top right...

Our own Raven was once very active and helpful there but I find her posting even here only occasionally now. Flooded twice and the moving, recovery involved may have changed their daily habits somewhat although that last home looked lovely - and on higher Texas ground more reliably dry.

My own skills are mostly self taught - no handy teens to call on for help 😊and I've never used a gmail account so no tips coming from me....

Well dagone! I know I checked those dots earlier and there was no contacts icon, it's there "now", ugh, getting old....er. Thanks for all of yawl's help and also for the computer help site which oddly did not show up in the forum index, .....but bet it's there now, nyuk.

ok, another silly question while we're (I'm ;-) on the topic. This is really for VgQn but I'll find it useful too, she has several pages of old craigslist addies to delete and would like to know how to delete them in large batches rather than just one at a time? Thanks again for your help!

There should be a box to check at the top that will check all, but if there are emails you don't want to delete, use the search bar to pull up only the emails from one sender, then use the 'check all' box and delete those.
