Little home gym update
Comments (26)Thanks, y'all! I think we invested right at $250 in this room's "makeover" (including the paint, one mirror, the weight bench and mat), and it is an infinitely more pleasant place to be now, so that was money well spent. I also take pride in the fact that we used much of what we already owned. That lamp? It's not ideal, but it's a nice vintage lamp and it works just fine to shed more light on my activities in the room. The "art?" I made three of the pieces, and if you look closely, they do LOOK homemade, but I don't care. I find myself looking forward to being in the space (ok, so it's only been a couple of days since we painted and revamped, and the 'new' might wear off at some point), and even enjoyed the time I spent there this morning before the crack of dawn. I've just committed to a 5K that takes place in a mere two weeks. Luckily, it's billed as a run/walk, and it's so close to my house that if it absolutely sucks, I'll just walk home and call it a day. ;-) But it feels great to have signed up for something that motivates me even more, and is for a good cause (benefits our local animal shelter). I find myself very much looking forward to the days ahead, and time spent both outside when I can find the time (and temps allow), and in this formerly under-utilized little room at the back of the house....See Moreopinion on home gym feature walls-vertical wood slats
Comments (1)I’d say do the basic dark behind. It’d be very classic and simple and nice. A mirror behind wood slats would be odd. The purpose of a mirror in a gym is functionality, not decor. Without a picture of your space it’s hard to say, but probably save a portion of the wall for a functional mirror, separate from your wood slats wall....See MorePutting Home Gym near Front Entrance of Home? Comments (23)Unfortunately the office in the bedroom is for my husband as he is currently working from home indefinitely and needs the privacy for phone calls and Zoom/Skype meetings. I was planning to have my desk somewhere in the main part of the house as I work at home occasionally, I still go in the office. Our house is 3 Bedrooms, Kitchen, small Casual Family Room in front of kitchen, and large open room (formal dining/living room) in the front entrance that is open concept. unfortunately there are no nooks, basement, or attics in the house which is why our space is limited. Each of the 3 bedrooms has a purpose: Master Bedroom that has limited space, Husbands office and he needs the privacy for phone calls, and the current guest room which will be utilized as a nursery/kids room in near future. The garage has both our cars already and we live in the desert where it gets over 100 degrees. So a gym in the garage is not an option....See MoreWall art suggestions for home gym?
Comments (7)I'm all about choosing art you like and not art that "matches the space." I don't see the space as being at all restrictive as to what you could hang there, although I would probably choose something fairly large to be enjoyable from Peloton distance. Hilma af Klint seems like a perfectly fine choice if her work appeals to you....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
