(lol) I've asked all those questions and a million more! TV, entertainment center, coffee table, window treatment have all been given away, along with the sofa and loveseat. I found this coffee table at Room & Board which I like, but do I want a coffee table or an ottoman that can do double duty? Hmmmmm..... DH and I have been debating putting the new TV over the fireplace vs on a console to the right. I'll be picking up some brown paper today for mock-ups. No definite accent color yet. I want all the bones to be brown/espresso/tan so I can change the accent colors out when I feel like it by changing out throw pillows, throws, mantel decorations etc. If we find some nice artwork, I can pull colors from it. (I love some of the plein air artists from the 20's-40's.) We do have saltillo pavers through most of the house and on the hearth - so the peachy-teracotta color is always around as well. We don't need a window covering for privacy, just sun control - mostly for glare on the TV. We've used a bamboo shade hung from the eaves outside that actually worked really well. My main concern is having clean lines and being unobtrusive. Curtains are probably out due to the light sconces on each side of the window. We are hoping to move in around 3 years, so an eye toward resale is a consideration. I want less, but better scaled and better quality furniture. (I rarely entertain.) Also, this is the first room in a whole-house updating so I need to be smart about the pieces I buy. I'll see if there is really sufficient space for the sofa to face the sliders. it may impinge a bit on the walk space. At one point we had the sofa and love seat in an L configuration with two chairs against the wall where the love seat currently is which wasn't a bad layout. it is getting my husband his "special" chair that is such a monkey wrench.

Thank you all for the advice. I have several challenges in my living room. One is it is fairly small, just 20'x18', basically a square shaped room. I don't have the room to pull things away from the walls to make room for floor length drapes. Both walls have the large windows with very little wall space. There is a long handmade country quilted wall hanging that I don't want to clash with any window treatment. The living room is open to both the kitchen and dining room. They are all essentially one room. I can't rearrange the furniture due to the wood stove in one corner and where the TV has to be in that corner. The piano will only fit on that one wall. I do have electric baseboard heaters along the one wall that are used when I go away any time in the cold weather months so having long drapes would be a problem there. Heating with wood makes things get really dirty so I don't want window coverings that are hard or problematic to take down and clean. I am a recent widow and need to be able to take care of things myself. My living room hasn't had a makeover in 30 yrs which is why I desperately need new window treatments. I don't have beautiful hardwood floors like in some of these pictures. I have carpeting. Some day I'd like to replace that but can't right now. I have beautiful views of the pine trees surrounding my home out the windows so don't want the view hidden. I do feel at times now at night, that I'd like a way to close off the windows so people can't see in. I do like a softness around the windows. I'm starting to toy with the idea of a faux Roman shade valance with maybe woven wood blinds underneath which I could then lower for privacy at night. Or just some simple panels but I think I'll have to stay with sill length if I do that due to the electric baseboard heaters and furniture up against walls.
