Curb Appeal on a Budget. Exterior Design Help, Please!!!
Comments (29)Thank you again everyone for all the help you have provided. My wife and I couldn’t be more appreciative for all the advice. At this stage, I feel like we have the following...remove railing, install potted plants/feature on side landings of stairs, paint porch a dark gray that matches the stone walkway, replace exterior lighting, remove interior window shutters, revisit landscaping options, install window planters. In terms of the exterior shutters and door colors...the current color is a dark maroon/purpley color (has to go). Based on some of the great feedback I’ve attached a couple options...1) High contrast black on white with a pretty brown stained door 2) Lighter shutters with a brown stained door. I think I’m leaning a bit more towards the high contrast black on white...thoughts on either and if brown is the way to go for front door or match color of shutters? Also color of planters under windows (same brown as door)?...See MoreExterior design/remodel HELP... please!
Comments (2)What does remodel mean to you? What is the budget? What do YOU like and dislike about the house? I would remove the arbor and repaint the trim from forest grey to black or dark brown, add some pots to define the entry, and improve the landscaping. You may want to do more or less......See MoreExterior Design/Paint help please

Comments (18)Sorry for your disappointment. Many online design services are disappointing! I don’t think your house itself needs much. I would focus more on the landscaping. As others have mentioned a new front door would be nice, but that can be expensive. Painting it might be a good temporary solution. Many colors look good with red brick: blues and greens almost always work, as does black. You don’t need a lot of plants - hopefully one of the mock-up artists will jump in and give you some ideas. Is it possible to move the driveway to end at the side of the house instead of running right up to the front door? I think that would be nicer. Define the driveway with edging material. I see you have flood lights, but a nice porch light or coach light could also add interest....See MoreJane
