Curb Appeal on a Budget. Exterior Design Help, Please!!!
Comments (29)Thank you again everyone for all the help you have provided. My wife and I couldn’t be more appreciative for all the advice. At this stage, I feel like we have the following...remove railing, install potted plants/feature on side landings of stairs, paint porch a dark gray that matches the stone walkway, replace exterior lighting, remove interior window shutters, revisit landscaping options, install window planters. In terms of the exterior shutters and door colors...the current color is a dark maroon/purpley color (has to go). Based on some of the great feedback I’ve attached a couple options...1) High contrast black on white with a pretty brown stained door 2) Lighter shutters with a brown stained door. I think I’m leaning a bit more towards the high contrast black on white...thoughts on either and if brown is the way to go for front door or match color of shutters? Also color of planters under windows (same brown as door)?...See MorePlease help with exterior design...
Comments (16)The weird variation in the trim over the garage doors and front windows drives me crazy, along with the photo's angle that makes me keeps seeing the magnolia tree planted in front of the recessed garage door. :-D (Why is it recessed???) But OP has said that he is cleaning up the all the foo-foo and woo-woo with a local architect, so I'm looking forward to seeing the cleaned-up version. Ken Moffitt, why is blue out because it was what you had on your previous house? Are you just tired of blue roofs? Just curious....See MorePlease help fix my exterior design!
Comments (19)I agree that the metal roof in bronze and the other roof in gray is OK, but I think the issue is that the house color is too close to the asphalt roof color. If the house color was something with more green SW Verdigreen or blue SW Cloudburst in it so that it didn't look like it was trying to match the asphalt roof, the brown metal wouldn't look as odd. Try uploading the house photo to one of the paint websites and picking a different paint color. I think the porch roof should match the dormer roof to tie the metal across the front of the house and ground it. There is a lot of white, but one way you could minimize it a little is to pick a darker color for the gutters and facia that matches the roof instead of matching the trim, or paint the downspouts to match the color of the house....See MoreHome exterior design help! please
Comments (11)Is the yellow area stucco? If so I would paint it and the foundation Ralph Lauren Burlap, it’s a neutral taupe that’s looks like raw stucco, tying those elements together and to the brick. All the wood trim (fascia, soffit, windows, columns, etc) get one color- olive would be my first choice but linen white would be nice too especially if you want the navy door....See MoreMichele Saum
