I agree. Western Massachusetts here. Also depends on what type/brand of appliances and countertops you want and whether you're sticking with the same layout or moving anything around. We splurged about 8 years ago with a Wolf 36 inch gas range, new hood, SZ fridge, Medallion cabinets, granite counters and island, new flooring and lighting, ceiling fan, and kitchen table and chairs and came in around 70K. Take a deep breath!!!

Added: kitchen is 14 X 28.

We just did the same for a 15' x 12' kitchen with relatively moderately priced new appliances: Kitchenaid oven with convection (replacing the same that worked like a champ for over 22 years) cooktop, and rangehood, Bosch 300 dishwasher, Whirlpool refrigerator -- the total cost of which was still far less than the single Thermador refrigerator the young couple across the street bought for their kitchen remodel....this, by the way, was our preference, not from necessity...). New cabinets (painted finish), farmhouse sink, soapstone countertops, including an island, new lighting, backsplash, and an added skylight, which has been a definite plus. Total cost: $73K, in the high-cost-of-living San Francisco Bay Area.

Custom kitchen cabinets in walnut veneer will cost about $500-$700 a linear foot. Paint grade is cheaper but make sure your carpenter paints and is good at it! Otherwise, factor that cost in.

Somewhere between $20K and $120K, depending on your location, taste, and how much of the work you do yourself. Even more is possible, I suppose.

Sally it’s a bit like asking what a car costs- just so many unknowns. One thing that might be a helpful exercise for you is to ‘build’ your kitchen in the IKEA kitchen planner. Insert the counters, appliances etc and it will give you a total for most of the products used in the renovation.

That's twice the average sized kitchen, so expect twice the average cost.

We were quoted $100K for white oak cabinetry in the Phoenix area for a 15’ x 13’ kitchen before we decided to move. If we had stayed, we would have seriously considered Ikea again - we had some water damage and, unfortunately, couldn’t replace our old cabinets (with Tidaholm doors etc, which we loved). We already had our appliances.

If you reaally want help here first we need a to scale floor plan all windows , doorways clearly marked . Every measurement clearly marked n, some clue as to your style. All the appliances meaurements and waht you love and what you dislike about what you have now. Do the drawingon graph paper post it here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT start another post . Everything to do with the issue can be dealt with here in comments . Pricing can only be firgured out with a plan and once you have that you decide style of cabinets , material etc.
