Kitchen remodel before and after

WA Jones

Our house was built in 1913 and around 25 years ago rebuilt down to the studs by the previous owners, who eliminated the wall between the dining and kitchen (see "before" shots

) and added a floor. This remodel involved pushing a structural wall out, re-installing the wall between the dining and living rooms with a pocket door, installing skylights, and replacing the old tiered island with a flat one. We kept the old cherry cabinets in the bank by the stove (also the old one) and opposite, so on two sides of the island, all to match the trim and old pocket doors throughout the house. The faucet for the smaller sink in the island is not yet installed. There is a plumbed (constant refill) kegerator for sparkling water in the nook corner and a plumbed coffee machine. In the first "after" shot you can see the handle of the fridge on the right side. There's also a smaller fridge in the island, and an oven. The microwave is in the pantry. The granite is Blue Dunes and the painted lower cabinets (all of which were new painter-grade) are Sherwin Williams Software. The big picture is actually a Samsung Frame TV. We are very happy with the results. Next step: landscaping in the back!
