Thank God!! Someone finally suggested her picking what she likes...I read all of this and just groaned...I was looking to get a simple suggested ratio for horizontal picture to a stinking console. Now I have an idea and I saw a lot of things that I would give me zero joy...But then I like eclectic items. So it's all good...I truly think the real key here is to go with what makes you happy and what gives you joy. Someone else may not like it, but it's not their place... as soon as we quit worrying about what other people think about our decorating, then each person's personality will find that perfect mix... (Oh, remember, on your console, be sure you leave enough room so that one of your babies can curl up on the end nearesr a window or the front door to help be the official greeter ...like Wal*Bark??...Sorry, I don't know where that came from...)

You may prefer one view in the elevation and then find out that it does not work in the floor plan. It is critical to check the amount of space you have for the hallway to the left. I would prefer the console to be centered on the wall instead of off to the right as illustrated. Can you provide the measurement between the console wall and the wall in front of it to the left? If it is 4 feet or more, there should be no problem with the wider console.

People often hang mirrors in foyers so they can check their appearance coming and going. I think the mirror you're considering may work, since its open scrollwork won't read as "heavily" on the wall as a mirror with a hefty, solid frame might. Ideally, the console would be the same size or just a tad longer than the mirror. Would you consider shopping for a new console that is longer and move your ghost chair out of this space (it looks a bit cramped where it is). If not, just use your current console and buy the mirror since you love it. It may not be IDEAL, but it'll be fine.

You might be able to add two rectangles to the wall beside it -- just smooth boards with the same edges as and finished or painted in the same color as the mirror frame.
