Your 5 best L daylilies 2023
Comments (31)Late to the party, but finally here. I like that joke, Sherry, and your Late to The Party. Like Kate and most of you, I really like Laura Harwood. and also had trouble choosing one photo since she is such a showoff. Life Unlimited, another really nice one: Little Light of Mine: Always a showoff here: I am glad yours is doing well and sorry yours didn't bloom this year, Debra. Louisiana Jones: I just really like the blooms on this one: Long Legged Lap Dancer: It looks like a bitone here due to the heat I suppose: nice bloomer too. I too love Lady Dragon, Kate, but mine is too new to know how well it will do here. Mantis, I like Love 'n Loujean and Lovestruck Linda. Lavender Dew is a pretty one Brad. Debra, Lillian's Thin Ice is lovely! Nancy, Lincoln Andres is a nice one. Kate, I agree about Dragon Lady, of course, as you know. Celeste Lavender Panties is lovely Nancy, I like your Lavender Aura . David, Lunar Empire is a lovely yellow clump. A few smaller flowers are okay; Black Fathom Depths is a smaller one but a favorite nonetheless. kay...See MoreYour best P and Q daylilies 2023
Comments (25)I'm late to the party but wanted to share mine (of which some have already been shown): PRINCESS SYNDROME, healthy & hardy, fertile both ways PLANET CLAIRE, I don't grow many yellows but this one is my favorite. Lots of blooms, nice presentation and a husky plant. Apparently I didn't take it's photo this year but Mantis' photo portrays it nicely. PINK BRAID, always blooms it's heart out. Flowers are always perfect on a hardy, carefree plant PINK PRINCESS SLIPPERS, tall, with large blooms and lots of them. The staggered look of the blooms is only because the plant is in a terraced garden PINHILL TALL GODDESS, lives up to it's name. PLUMCAKE PATTY, agree with Mantis on this one. It's excellent!...See More2023 Daylilies With the Best Bud Count
Comments (24)It turns out I was wrong about who wore the bud king crown here this year. After I started harvesting pods on Blue Swallowtail, I realized it had a scape in the back with 28 buds. So it really should be my #1. Pretty good performance for a daylily only registered as having 18 buds. And in a bad year too! I'll have to edit my other posts on this thread. Blue Swallowtail My sixth-place finishers with 19 buds each were a late bloomer and a seedling with a late blooming scape. Tiffany Shade surprised me with a scape smack dab in the middle of the clump with 19 buds. I don't think it's ever had more than 10-12 buds in the past. White Tooth X Skater #3 also surprised me. It started the season with one large fan, and then broke into three. One of the later scapes ended with 19 buds and the other 15 buds. This seedling never had as many teeth as I had hoped, but it sure does hold its color on 98 degree days. It's a tall one too, 31 inches on the two later scapes. Debra...See MoreOrange Daylilies 2023
Comments (18)Court and Spark was too small a bloom here to make it into the garden. Coral Corduroy looks very appealing. It is rather short, but that is good for pot culture. Why didn't the Ellison seedling get a name? All those buds, and such a beautiful ruffled flower. Slow to increase? That usually doesn't stop people from registering. Tyger River (a bonus) was very short this year (of course, not without company in this bad year). I am wondering if I should pick up Miss Demeanor. Evaluation of Tiger Town? I see it is a cascade. I look forward to seeing Hot Buttered Rum in the garden next year. Sitting Cool has been very pleasing here; not sure I would call it orange, but it certainly warrants a picture. I am always interested in reviews of the Stone Palace cultivars. The Victorian Lace seedling is lovely. Since VL does well here, it arouses more interest....See Moreshive
