recommendations for exterior paint

Our late-70’s era home needs new paint. I’m seeing a lot of black in my searches and like the idea but am worried it’s too trendy and also that it will make the house too hot. I’m not interested in navy as it’s been done to death in my neighborhood.

It’s dark gray. In the picture it’s reddish but we’ve had it replaced. Though tbh our house is on a hill and the roof is not very noticeable.

cali44- Our house is a stock Hardi color (Mountain Sage), and the BM equivalent is Tate Olive. We used BM Sailcloth for trim, and the windows are by Eagle, in the Cinnamon Toast color. We're close to the Canadian border in the land of ice and snow, so the light is going to be much different than SoCal, but FWIW we really love the colors in all 4 seasons. Dear Sangeeta, That is a beautiful house. If you are going to keep your roof, you might consider picking a color similar to the roof, but slightly lighter. Keep the trim white for a crisp look and the accent the architectural features. Also, at some point in the future, you might want to consider replacing the front door with something showier.

We are getting ready to start prepping the interior walls of my garage for painting (I’m in north Florida). Which type of paint and sheen is best? Note: We will also be getting epoxy floor for the garage as it will be my husband’s workshop. Contractor is recommending flat exterior paint. Any recommendations?

I'd choose Newburg Green. It's not navy. Its hue family is blue but "blue" in this part of color space leans greenish. If the siding is vinyl, it's not a good idea to go dark.
