need design help for windows/shelves over cleanup sink
Comments (4)thanks madeyna - if I decide to go with open shelves, think I will use your idea. and thanks to granmao3 - I think you may have expressed what I'm thinking - since I don't really need the storage (though o course it would probably be used if I had it), I'm thinking maybe I would not like the little shelves. And the separation between the windows is different from what we often see where there is one large window - am I the only one that thinks separating these windows gives it more of a "living room" flavor? It is already going to be modern with the Ikea cabinets, what about giving it some warmth with the separation between windows of maybe 8 or 10 inches?...See MoreBathroom Window Treatment.
Comments (19)I love my plantation shutters, but you are right, it would not be an option. Years ago though, I recall bi-fold shutters, but in your case I don’t think it would work because it’s too close to the vanity, and it wouldn’t look good either. We did something unusual for my youngest who lives in an apartment in the city. Her window looks right across a courtyard to a music school. We put a blackout shade behind a venstain blind. She has so many options with this scenario. What if you put a plain window shade behind the Roman? The Roman can stay up most of the time, and you can just pull the window shade down at night. For me, easier then the contraption of the Roman. It is true that you never know who is looking and out on their deck at any hour. Certainly not saying they are doing it purposely, but, you want to assure your own privacy. Personally, I never turn the bathroom light on in the middle of the night. We have a nightlight that throws off just enough light. Could this be an option? When a home next door to a friend was being rebuilt to something bigger, she went to view the home to how see what views the new people would have looking into her rooms. I would never have thought to do that....See MoreHow to add privacy to a large picture window that is in the shower
Comments (13)Do you need something for "psychological" privacy or because there really is a need to prevent people from viewing the interior of your bathroom. I ask because I live in a high rise and there really isn't any need for me to ever draw the blinds because of privacy because there is no one who would be able to see anything unless they used binoculars which is not something I worry about. The view is beautiful and part of the integral part of the design of your bathroom. I would do nothing at all that would change it. If prvacy was necessary I would get some kind of shades that installed on the exterior that could be operated remotely and they would only be used when privacy was absoutely necessary. I assume that would be limited since it would be a major design flaw (at least in my opinion) if the shades had to be drawn from privacy any time someone was in the room because at least for me I wouldn't want to feel the potential for my privacy being invaded whenever I was in a bathroom. FWIW I have interior doors which use something called Lamina. It is completely opaque and there are no shadows visible if someone is in the bathroom with the light on. I tested it at the showroom before ordering the doors. The showroom actually used them in their public bathroom so it is obviously as fully opaque as wood and yet gives the illusion of light and air....See MoreAll Black Zebra Shade That Does Not Look Striped From The Street
