Want to update my dining room-suggestions please
Comments (9)Hi juliekcmo. I'm procrastinating right now, so here I am, on GW. I'm sure I'll get motivated to find the painting supplies that are packed away in the basement soon... So, that room is really nice. The one thing that immediately hits me is the need for curtain panels. If the color is a keeper (you know how hard it is to actually convey the true color in a photo) I might play with the idea of curtains that are closet to the wall color, so they add texture but yet not add another color. That's where I'd start. I think a rug would really be nice in there too. And since you have to move the table anyway when Thanksgiving comes It would be easy to roll it up (take it to the carpet place nearby and have it cleaned during that time) and then put it back after the holidays all nice and fresh. Sort of like a little spa time for the rug. ;) Then, maybe a new chandy. It can act as a piece of art in the room. You can also add one of those faux plaster thingamajigs on the ceiling where the chandy goes. Medallion, that's it. Faux plaster medallion. That really would give your ceiling more interest. Well, I guess I better go find the blue painters tape and get my project moving.......See MoreModern mcm dining room update or conversion help
Comments (37)Wow. love your fireplace stone. The more we see of your home, the more I love it. Are you happy with the natural light in your kitchen? If so, I would be tempted to close up the undersized pass through and use the space for some interesting art. I don't love seeing the kitchen from the dining room, and it looks like just a few steps around the wall with the tiny passthrough. How much do you love the drum over the existing table? Your choice, or was it there when you bought the home. I only ask because I think it's oversized for the existing table. And, if you love it, I would look for a different table, with a larger prescence and different shape....See MoreLooking for help updating living room/dining/entry
Comments (10)Thanks for the rug suggestions, I would have never thought to do a striped carpet. The other 2 look very nice too. I really like the suggestion for the coffee table. For the TV stand, I don't think I can get a taller one given the large picture we have above it. You pictured 2 wood TV stands, can I have a dark wood piece given my open concept and very white kitchen? We had ordered a dark wood coffee table but are returning it because it just didn't seem to go. I guess that's what I'm really stuck on, is the style of furniture we need to look for. I completely agree the console table is too small, that one was perfect in the tiny entrance of my previous home. If anyone has recommendations on dining tables and chairs that would go well in this space I would appreciate the insight. (excuse the dining room mess, all those plants are headed outside as soon as the weather warms up) As well as backsplash ideas would be great....See MoreChandelier help needed for dining room update
Comments (4)Christine Smith, I like the one you posted. Keep in mind these aren't necessarily to scale....See MoreDesign Fan
